Msi launches new amd 300 and 400 motherboards with 32mb bios

With the launch of the third generation Ryzen processors, a flaw in the AMD 300 and 400 series of motherboards was revealed. The BIOS was too small to fit all the information from the new Ryzen processors plus some older chips, so many manufacturers chose to remove support from some of those older processors so that it could fit the information from the newer ones.

For this reason, MSI will be launching updated models of motherboards from the old 300 and 400 series with a larger EEPROM BIOS, about 32MB. In this way, MSI is solving this problem, which incredibly, was not previously foreseen by the manufacturers.

If you want to install a Ryzen 3000 CPU on an older motherboard, you will lose support for, among other things, RAIDs and some older Socket AM4 CPUs. MSI now offers a number of motherboards with a larger storage size for the BIOS. Ryzen AM4's backward compatibility is laudable, but it also presents some issues for motherboard manufacturers.

The new motherboards have an additional label called 'Max' and therefore have the new 32MB BIOS. The 300 and 400 series are cheaper than the recently launched X570 motherboards and therefore could be an attractive alternative if we are not interested in PCIe 4.0.
