Last year we learned that AMD was launching an RX 580 with 2048 Stream Processors, a controversial graphics card because it would be an RX 570 renowned only for the Asian market. As it turns out, the manufacturer MSI will have its own custom variant called RX 580 ARMOR based on this same model.

MSI announces its RX 580 ARMOR with 2048 Stream Processors

The only product called Radeon RX 580 2048SP will soon be added to MSI's offering. As we discussed before, this is one of the most criticized products in AMD's portfolio. Instead of calling it RX 570, the name RX 580 is used. This product is not available in all regions and there is a reason why this is happening, and that is that AMD could have legal problems, as in some regions this could consider as misleading name of products.

Only for the Asian market

There are two variants in preparation, the 8 GB and 4 GB models. Both models are virtually identical to the Radeon RX 570 ARMOR. Basically it's the same card with a new box. The chip used here is the Polaris 20 XL, AMD simply took the Radeon RX 570 and put a different ID on them to create this variant for the Chinese market.

With that said, MSI's RX 580 ARMOR 2048 SP will likely only be available in Asia and shouldn't reach the West, save for any surprises. The truth is that since we learned of her existence in October 2018, five months have passed and we still have no news of her around here.
