The first model that we have in our test bench is the MSI X470 GAMING M7 AC, a motherboard that stands out for offering a very careful aesthetics, along with the best features for the most demanding users.

Unboxing and design

MSI has opted for a cardboard box with the corporate colors of its gaming series to deliver this MSI X470 GAMING M7 AC motherboard to users, the printing is of the best quality and the combination of black and red looks really good.

The box shows us a high quality image of the motherboard, and informs us of all its characteristics, so that we do not miss a single detail of this new platform.

MSI X470 GAMING M7 AC is a new ATX motherboard that combines the use of the AM4 socket together with the X470 chipset, this means that it is fully compatible with all AMD Ryzen 2000 processors without the need to update the BIOS. These processors also work on 300 series motherboards, although in this case a BIOS update is required.

The motherboard includes a VRM consisting of 14 power phases, in addition, it is manufactured with the best quality Military Class components, something that guarantees the greatest stability and a lower operating temperature, two essential ingredients for the motherboard to last us many years.

Specifically, the MOSFET chosen are the Onsemi NTMFS4C029N that we find in the Godlike series… In other words, MSI has thrown the house out of the window for the mid / high range.

On top of the VRM an aluminum heatsink is placed to avoid overheating, unfortunately this heatsink follows the trend of prioritizing aesthetics over functionality, in a component as important as this.

The motherboard offers us four DDR4 DIMM slots, which support a maximum of 64 GB of RAM in dual-channel configuration and at a maximum speed of 3600 MHz thanks to AMP profiles. This will allow us to take full advantage of the Zen architecture of Ryzen processors.

We turn to the sound engine based on the Realtek ALC1220 chipset, which we find on almost all motherboards and gives very good results. This audio codec offers a high-quality headphone amplifier and components, thanks to which we can enjoy excellent sound quality without having to buy a dedicated sound card. MSI has added the Nahimic 3 technology, which has its origin in the military and development sector to offer you the best positioning of enemies on the battlefield, with which we can already get an idea of its great quality and precision.

MSI attaches an expansion card with a Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac controller and Bluetooth 2.1, 2.1 + EDR, 3.0, 4.0, BLE, 4.2, this will allow us to enjoy a large number of wireless peripherals and a wireless high-speed internet connection.

Its Mystic Light lighting system gives it a really spectacular touch, it is one of the best lighting systems, which can be managed in a very simple way from the application that bears the same name. MSI dispels all criticism of the AM4 platform with the launch of the MSI X470 GAMING M7 AC. A motherboard that incorporates the same power phases as the GodLike series, with a renewed lighting system, a dizzying cooling capacity in both VRMs and M.2 devices

In our test bench we have installed an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X processor with six cores and 12 threads at a speed of 4.2 GHz and 1.37v plus DDR4 memories at 3400 MHz. The results are very good.
