The next generation of Intel desktop processors will build on its Comet Lake architecture and with it come new motherboards. The EEC has listed different MSI Z490 motherboards, a total of 11 models.

As you may already know, Comet Lake-S uses a new socket ( LGA 1200), which means that customers will have to use the new 400 series motherboards. Thanks to the Eurasian Economic Commission (CEE), we now know the names of The full range of MSI Z490 motherboards to be released alongside Comet Lake-S. According to the EEC, this is the complete range:

We are looking at virtually the entire range of Creator, MAG, MPG and MEG. The Z490 MEG Godlike will undoubtedly be the flagship of all of them.

Intel is expected to increase the core number of its star processors for enthusiasts from 8 cores / 16 threads to 10 cores / 20 threads (which definitely increases the required power). This is a major decision by Intel to fight off AMD's Ryzen 3000 processors, which scale up to 16 cores / 32 threads for the Ryzen 9 3950X.

Intel did not confirm the release schedule for the 400 series motherboards. Therefore, we will have to wait the next few months for the Z490 series motherboards and other chipsets for the mid and low range to be officially announced. We will keep you informed.
