Video on demand streaming platform Netflix has expanded HDR support to new additional mobile devices, allowing more subscribers to view high dynamic range content with their smartphones.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20 and Sony Xperia XZ2 already support HDR content on Netflix

HDR videos on Netflix are only available on devices with a screen suitable for viewing this type of content, although the number of compatible smartphones is still small, the current list includes a total of 10 different models.

We recommend reading our post on ASUS ROG Gaming Smartphone would be announced at Computex

The company does not make any major official announcements when it adds HDR support for more devices, as it silently adds them to its list of supported devices on its Support site, this means that users have to be reviewing the list to see what's new. The new additions to the list are the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20 and the Sony Xperia XZ2. Netflix is also working on a new incognito mode, which will allow users to watch videos without the session influencing their recommendations, or being saved in their account history.

Razer Phone was the first mobile device to support the display of HDR content on Netflix, from there, the list of compatible models has been progressively expanded, to have more than ten models today. Hopefully, over the next few years we will see the arrival of many more devices on the market, capable of playing HDR content.
