Netflix incorporates smart downloads

The latest Netflix update for iPhone and iPad has incorporated a new function that "intelligently" complements the option to watch our favorite movies, series and documentaries without the need for an internet connection. It is about Smart Downloads and thanks to these features we will always have the latest episode on our smartphone.

Netflix has announced the launch of a new feature. This is "Smart Downloads" or Smart Downloads, a function that in its Spanish version has received the name of Autodescargas, designed to streamline the content download process so that users can see it offline.

Thanks to smart downloads, when we finish watching an episode of a television series that we have previously downloaded to our iPhone or iPad, Netflix will delete it. It will then automatically download the next episode.

Smart downloads are designed to download content only when our device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, so it will not be a decrease in our mobile data plan.

The function is especially useful for series that are updated chapter by chapter week after week.

The new feature is activated at source, however Netflix users can choose to disable the smart download feature, which is available on both iOS and Android devices. Disabling smart downloads will keep content viewed on your device, requiring manual removal.

On an iPhone or iPad, simply go to "Application Settings" and touch the slider next to "AutoDownloads" to disable or enable this feature.
