Nintendo presents switch: the new hybrid console that carried the nx code

Anonim

After months of secrecy and weeks of hysteria among fans for a presentation that did not come, Nintendo has presented its new console. In a preliminary trailer without lyrics or narration, they show us their concept. Its release on the market will be in March 2017. Below we briefly review what elements the video advances, and what unknowns we have pending

Nintendo Switch

The new Nintendo console revolves around a tablet device with a high-resolution screen and removable controls. The console can be placed on a charging cradle to play from a TV or in portable mode, something the Wii U couldn't do far from the desktop console.

The controls can be used in a variety of ways. On the one hand, connecting them to the sides of the console is the most practical thing when we must carry it in our hands, in this way the console looks like the Wii U. On the other hand, if we rest it tilted on a surface, we can separate them and play with one on each side just as we grabbed the controls of the original Wii. Instead, by connecting it to the base and playing on the TV, we can place the controls on a classic game controller to enjoy conventional controls. Also the joystick and button settings allow you to share them with a friend and play together!

Cartridges

To ensure reasonable loading speeds and not being able to fit a disc player for obvious reasons, Nintendo has preferred to go back to the cartridges as it has always done on its portable consoles, but that it had abandoned for the Game Cube 15 years ago. Of course, you will continue to promote digital purchases from your eShop, so the user's preferences are respected.

Titles and third party support

One of the big problems of the Wii U, apart from explaining what the console was about, was losing so much support from third-party developers. For many Nintendo players as a game creator it was a sufficient pretext to acquire it, but many others preferred to play those titles that were denied. As soon as the video is uploaded, Nintendo has uploaded a press article where it explains the console above and with which developers it already has agreements. If that is a point that you consider crucial to take into account, do not hesitate to check them.

The unknowns

After this preview, many rumors and leaks are confirmed, while others await a Nintendo Direct where they give us true details about the new system.

What hardware will drive the new Switch? The Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC has been rumored to already be present in devices like the Nvidia Shield Tablet X1. Others indicate, instead, that an impending Tegra X2 on Pascal architecture would give it the power it needs for the future, and bring it closer to the performance of the original PS4.

Will it be compatible with 3DS and / or Wii U games, or will they at least port them? There's nothing written and they shouldn't have to, but it would certainly bring in a number of games available at launch that would convince many prudents. After taking out remasters of mythical games like the Twilight Princess or Wind Waker on Wii U and Majora's Mask from the "The Legend of Zelda" series recently, it is strange to think that they would quickly stay on a previous console.

WE RECOMMEND YOU The Nintendo Switch Lite has been officially unveiled

Will Wii U and New 3DS have continuity ? This is a very important point for consumers who recently purchased one of these two consoles. The Wii U has already been on the market for 4 years, but the New 3DS was available in late 2014, and since the Switch is a hybrid device, there are doubts about the continuation of games on the previous consoles.

Evolution or Revolution?

It is nothing new that Nintendo does not follow in the footsteps of the rest of the video game industry. While VR is being experimented with and commercialized on PC, PS4, and Xbox soon, they are going their own way.

It is difficult to say whether it is one or the other, since an evolution can be understood as the materialization of their intentions with Wii U, or a revolution that takes flexibility for players with the same hardware to an unprecedented limit.

What do you think of the new console? Are you waiting to know more details like us?
