We have new information about the new Nintendo Switch game console, this time the information refers to the characteristics that the device screen will have. Some sources pointed out that its resolution would not be very high to maintain performance in its portable mode and it seems that it will be.

Nintendo Switch maintains discreet resolution on its screen

The new Nintendo Switch will have a screen with a diagonal of 6.2 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a figure that seems very scarce but that begins to make sense with the idea of an Nvidia Tegra processor inside. By reducing the resolution, the graphic load on the processor is reduced and with it the power consumption to improve the autonomy of the console when we are using it in portable mode. Another explanation is that the Tegra chip is not powerful enough to handle games smoothly at a higher resolution. It is also confirmed that the Nintendo Switch screen will be capacitive multi-touch.

Now the question that remains is whether the Nintendo Switch will work at a higher resolution when we are using it with its dock and connected to the electrical network. If the rendering resolution is maintained at 720p, it should include an advanced rescaling mode to improve the quality of the graphics and make them more consistent with current times, a 720p console can hardly be successful in the market today. Nintendo will give more details about its new console officially on January 13.
