Noblechairs is a company that manufactures high quality gaming and corporate chairs with almost worldwide coverage. On this occasion we are going to analyze one of its flagships, the Noblechairs EPIC, one of the best we have in the current scene, both for design and quality of construction.

This chair is available in up to 12 different variants in very high quality polyurethane synthetic leather, two versions in real leather and one premium in nappa leather. In our case we will analyze the synthetic leather, a fairly large chair with a wide backrest, 4D armrests, a reclining backrest and very comfortable with its two cushions included. If you are a user who spends enough hours in front of the PC, it is best to opt for good quality chairs like this, so let's see what it offers us.

Unboxing

This Noblechairs EPIC PU has come to us in the huge box you see, one that, of course, is made of neutral cardboard and has on its outer faces the sketches of the chair, as well as some of its characteristics. The opening in this case is done by the face with the greatest width, for something there are the side arrows indicating the direction.

After opening it we see all the components separately stacked on top of each other and separated by polyethylene foam honeycombs. An interesting detail is the fact of having a mold around it that avoids the contact of these components with the edges of the box, something that we have not seen in other bundles, and that reinforces the security for its transport.

Within the bundle we must find the following elements:

Some of the smaller items are stored in a second cardboard box inside the large one. The only screws that come, let's say independent from the other elements, are those that are used to install the armrests, the rest are in the same chair, screwed.

Design and construction

This Noblechairs EPIC gaming chair has come directly to us from the brand's headquarters in Portugal. It belongs to the series with gamer design, as we can see with the bucket style. In addition to this EPYC series, there is also the HERO, with a slightly more classic cut for the office, and the ICON series, with a design oriented towards luxury chairs and seats for high-end vehicles. The truth is that any of them is full of quality and good taste, you will surely fall in love if you take a look at them.

Let us focus on the case at hand for this analysis. It is a chair whose chassis is entirely made up of iron and aluminum tubes in the specific case of the legs. It has a weight close to 30 Kg, which shows the great resistance of this tubular chassis that has been used both on the backrest in the form of a frame, and on the base.

We would have liked the manufacturer to put in its specifications the density of the foam used for both the base and the backrest, but we can tell you that it is extremely high, judging by their hardness, especially lower. It could be calmly between 60 and 75 Kg / m ³ thus assuring an incredible durability of this chair.

The Noblechairs EPIC is available in different color combinations, which are integral black, black / gold, / red, / green, / blue and combination of white / black (white as the main color of impressive appearance. But in addition to these, They also have thematic versions, for example, of Mercedes AMG, GeForce GTX or a Sprout Edition, up to a total of 6 models, and at the same price.The ones that will of course be more expensive are the ones that come with leather upholstery amounting to 550 euros, and that of nappa leather (premium leather) no less than 1000 euros.

Our model is the Noblechairs EPIC PU, that is, the one that has more “normal” finishes with high quality polyurethane synthetic leather and with exquisite edge finishes and sewn lines. In fact, these two-color versions only have the secondary color in the finishing thread, with everything else being black.

Components and performance

Next, we will see in more detail each of the elements that make up this chair.

Legs and wheels

Perhaps what weighs less than the entire set that forms the Noblechairs EPIC PU are the legs. These are made of aluminum of considerable thickness and composed of 5 arms with a good extension of about 60 cm. The visible area is finished in glossy black paint with a very slight roughness, although we do not have any type of protector for users who tend to place their feet on top of them. In the inner part it has a network of ribs to reinforce its rigidity and bear a large amount of weight.

The wheels meanwhile also enjoy good quality. They have a conventional design with the entire outer area covered and mostly made of plastic. To improve the running surface, they have a nylon coating, so they make less noise and last longer. On the inside we see that they are reinforced with thicker plastic ribs, although we do not see that the bearings are much more complex than a simple iron shaft rotating on the plastic. A positive thing is that they have a diameter of 60 mm, which will improve the shooting considerably compared to the model with smaller wheels.

The installation on the chair legs is as simple as tightening the wheel in each of the available holes at the ends. A system of pressure washers will keep them fixed to prevent them from falling off, although it is still possible to remove them without too many complications if we pry them off with a screwdriver. In this case, a hard rubber has also been placed on each wheel at the fixing end to avoid squeaks over time and gaps.

In general we have a correct displacement both on hard surfaces and on carpets and somewhat softer scenarios. Precisely this is the usefulness of having larger diameter wheels. On the other hand, we would have liked a chair of such construction quality to have brakes, but this time we do not.

Piston and movement mechanism

After seeing the legs, it is now the turn of the main movement mechanism of the Noblechairs EPIC chair, that is, the piston and the oscillating base. We are facing a class 4 gas piston as usual in these products, and with DIN 4550 safety certification, as can be perfectly seen in the detail capture of the same. This piston is capable of supporting about 120 Kg, which has certainly been curious to us that it does not go up to 150 Kg. Taking into account that the foam used is very hard, and that it is a fairly wide chair in measurements, it would seem more consistent to us.

The maximum travel it will offer us is 10 cm, which we do see as being very suitable for the level of the chair. In this way it is possible to raise the seat to 58 cm, always starting from a 47 cm base, being able to appreciate that in general it is a fairly high chair. In this measure the proper thickness of the seat is already contemplated, which will be about 10-12 cm. A person of average height 1.79 cm as in my case I find myself comfortable from 50 cm, so for very small people it may not be the ideal chair. The piston has the corresponding three-element telescopic trim that we will have to place before assembling the chair, since it remains fixed to the upper base with a smaller diameter.

The union element between seat and piston is this that we see at the top, a mechanism of very good quality and excellent construction that inspires safety and high durability. We can only notice it with the large metal frame on which it hangs very wide and weighing just over 2.5 kg. The axis that is responsible for carrying out the movement is also of considerable thickness and with a solid bar, and we imagine It will come perfectly greased, because nothing sounds.

In the central part we have the manually adjustable spring mechanism that will allow us to harder or softer the rocker function of this Noblechairs EPIC that will oscillate in a range between 0 and 11o. In addition, we have a double lever system, with which you can raise and lower the chair and block the inclination of its base.

Keep in mind that the piston head is already greased at the factory, which will prevent squeaking after placing it. The two levers that are included do not come pre-installed, although it is as easy as finding the correct position of the grips that they have so that they fit perfectly.

Many people associate the squeaks with the poor quality of the chair, but it is simply for lack of lubrication in the elements that move, lever, backrest, piston and seat. It happens to almost all chairs and you just have to locate the noise zone and re-grease it.

Huge backrest with cushions included

We now continue with the elements that provide us with the ability to sit at the Noblechairs EPIC, specifically we see the support. We can see that this EPYC series has a purely sporty design with a backrest similar to that of a bucket race .

We can note for example a very large headboard that will be great for tall people and to be able to support the head and that it does not stay hanging as it happens in many cases. In fact, both this range and the other two from the manufacturer are characterized by having a very high backrest. In this model it is very noticeable, since the area of ​​the head with which it supports our shoulders is very distinguishable, which also has two huge holes topped with a plastic piece and that among other things will serve to pass the elastic of the cushions.

The entire backrest area is finished in polyurethane leather in this model, and it has a mesh with small holes to allow perspiration in hot environments. In fact, it is not the typical shiny and smooth finish, but it has a small roughness that resembles real skin where the back will not stick or bother us after hours of sitting on it. We have examined each and every one of the red thread seams and have not seen any construction failure, being an exceptional job the manufacturer has accomplished. And it is not all, because the entire outer edge is finished in a polyurethane canvas, but with a velvety cover of a magnificent touch.

In this case the backrest is made up of only one foam block instead of dividing it in two. With this we ensure a more consistent block with the passage of time and the power to integrate the steel chassis both on the edges and in the back area. The foam is quite hard, although a little less than the base, we could be around 50 Kg / m ³ for its touch. The measurements we have are 87 cm wide, 29.5 cm internal width and 54 cm shoulder-to-shoulder exterior. The ears are not very deep, although too wide backs are probably a little tight in this seat.

And finishing with the back, it is as well built as the interior with a whole three-piece layer of polyurethane, although in this case they are not removable. It is not necessary either, since this material is cleaned very well.

For its part, the cushions are also made of a somewhat harder foam than I personally would like, not being entirely comfortable. What we really liked are its finishes, since again very padded velvet mesh has been used for the contact surface. The placement system will be typical with elastic harnesses. Incidentally, the brand's fabrics are embroidered in thread.

Seat

Now we will look at the basis of the Noblechairs EPIC, which in terms of construction is quite similar to the backup. Again we have a perforated central area to allow perspiration and a velvet leather-trimmed edge exactly the same as the top. The seam pattern is more or less the same, although on the right side we have the secondary color detail with the logo and brand of the chair.

The foam used is also a full monocoque mold and is somewhat harder than the backrest. In the absence of manufacturer information, it is clearly between 50 and 75 kg / m ³, which is normal in this price range. The measures of the seat are 35 cm in the inner area and 56 cm from side to side including the ears, which in this case are quite thick, although not very upwards. Its (useful) depth is 49.5 cm, being the total 56.5 cm.

The most interesting is in the rear and lower area. In the first case, we have an adjustable lever mechanism to recline the backrest between 90 ^o and 135 ^o. It allows us to place it in different positions and it seems like a good quality system. In the lower area, the entire steel chassis that will support our weight is much better appreciated. It is made up of tubes and iron crossbars. A very interesting detail is that in the central area we have an iron tray that will come in handy so that the foam does not sink over time. Likewise, all the synthetic leather endings are fastened with iron rods and rings.

4D armrest

We still have to see in detail the armrests of this Noblechairs EPIC PU, which in this case will be the same for all models in this series.

In this case they come disassembled from the base, although we only have to remove the three screws on each side, place it and then fix them to the width that we create appropriate. The mounting system is the same as other competing chairs, and also its good ergonomics.

It has a 4-dimensional movement system (4D), that is, we can raise and lower them with an external button, rotate them in 5 positions, move them forward or backward and also outward or inward. Lots of versatility to put it to our liking, but the price to pay as always is that so many pieces will make them wobble quite a bit and not very stable. It is something that happens to all chairs with this type of armrest.

On the other hand, the user contact surface is essentially rubber with a slight roughness, 10.5 cm wide and 27 cm deep. It is no different than the rest we find in the market, although it is true that its hardness is not the best way to feel comfortable about it.

Final appearance and assembly of the Noblechairs EPIC PU

In this Noblechairs EPIC PU chair, the assembly has been lengthened considerably, although it is not more difficult than others. The fact of having the screws already inserted in the different holes makes the time to invest longer than expected. The included Allen wrench has the screwdriver functionality as well.

Something that we consider important is that we recommend installing the seat mechanism before definitively placing its levers, since then they will bother us to install the armrests. We also see it correct to leave the screws of the armrests untightened until we have the chair mounted, in order to adjust them to our liking.

There is not much more to take into account of its assembly, just indicate the obvious, that once the piston is placed it will be very difficult to uninstall it again.

Final words and conclusion about Noblechairs EPIC PU

We can say without a doubt that this chair is one of the high-end gaming chairs available on the market. And not only for its price, but also for the excellent finishes that we have in practically every corner of the chair. This synthetic leather cover shows almost as if it were leather due to its texture, and it also comes with holes to breathe. All seams are very neat and provide a high level premium aesthetic.

And continuing with the aesthetics, the bucket seat design is a success for use in gaming, although we think that it is aimed more at people with a height greater than 170 cm. It is a fairly large chair, both its seat and especially the back are very large. Likewise, perhaps wide backs do not feel completely comfortable, since the ears of both elements are thick and high. The manufacturer indicates that it supports a maximum of 120 Kg.

The foam used is quite hard, especially the one used in the seat is one of the hardest we have ever tried. This ensures great durability, and is quite comfortable as it adjusts very well to the user's body. In fact we hardly see the need for the lumbar or cervical cushion, they are also quite hard. In general it is a chair made to last, since its chassis is completely metallic.

Regarding ergonomics, we cannot complain, since we have highly customizable 4D armrests, a reclining seat with a lock, and a folding backrest up to 135 degrees. The legs offer great safety without fear of falling, and the wheels work very correctly, although they do not have a brake. We would have liked a slightly less stiff armrest.

We finish as always with the price and availability of this Noblechairs EPIC PU, which we can find in its 12 versions for a price of 339 euros. If we still want more, the EPYC series is available in real leather and premium nepa leather for a cost of 550 and 1, 000 euros respectively. If we want a quality chair, comfortable than long-lasting, this is one of the best we have tested this year.
