Nomu is a manufacturer of Chinese smartphones that is known for its rugged and highly resistant models, the Nomu S30 Mini has been its latest launch that comes to the market to try to convince users by offering some very interesting features at a fairly low price. tight. A carbon fiber reinforced chassis, 4.7-inch screen, 4-core processor, 3GB of RAM and a long-lasting battery are the main strengths of this device.
First of all, we thank Nomu for the trust placed in handing over the product to us for analysis.
Nomu S30 Mini technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The Nomu S30 Mini is presented in a cardboard box with a very simple appearance, it reminds us a lot of the boxes in which almost all Chinese products usually come. This design allows the manufacturer to save costs and offer a product with a relationship between price and characteristics that is as favorable as possible, since what is really important is what is hidden inside the box and not its design.
We open the box and find the smartphone itself along with the documentation, a microUSB charging cable and a wall adapter. A fairly simple presentation but it does its job. We do highlight that the smartphone comes very well protected in a plastic bag to prevent scratches.
We already focus on the Nomu S30 Mini and we see a terminal that is not excessively large to be a ruggedized model, although obviously it is larger than a more conventional terminal. As we can see it is a very robust smartphone that is built with a black body. The front design is quite clean since we only see the brand logo at the bottom. As we can see, the Nomu S30 Mini comes with a factory fitted screen protector.
At the top we have the traditional front camera next to the speaker and sensors.
At the top we see the 3.5 mm jack connector for headphones and the microUSB port to charge its battery and connect it to our PC. We highlight that it is a waterproof port so it can be wet without problems.
On the sides we can see the different buttons for adjusting the volume and turning the terminal on / off.
We get to the back and this is one of the most interesting, the first thing we see is a carbon fiber reinforced cover to give it greater resistance to shocks. We remove this cover and we have access to a second cover under which the slots for the two MicroSIM and MicroSD cards are hidden, this second cover closes hermetically to prevent the entry of water. The design makes it clear that it is a very resistant terminal, not in vain the Nomu S30 Mini has IP68 certification that makes it resistant to dust and submersible in water.
Hardware and display
Its screen is 4.7 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and it is also very resistant thanks to the Gorilla Glass 3 laminate, we could have opted for a superior revision of this protection but we understand that it would have raised the cost significantly. The screen is IPS, which offers a very good image quality. The screen offers us four multi-touch points, more than enough for a good user experience, although perhaps in some games it can be a drag.
Hidden within the Nomu S30 Mini is quite advanced and capable hardware, although the biggest limitation is its 1.50 GHz quad- core MediaTek MT6737 processor Cortex-A53 and the Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. This processor is very well accompanied by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, so a good fluidity of the operating system is to be expected. Let's not forget that it has a microSD slot so we can expand its storage to an additional 64 GB (32 GB + 64 GB).
software
We get to the software section and we are happy to see that the terminal has Android 7.0 Nougat, it is also a very clean version without bloatware, the latter will undoubtedly be appreciated by the performance since we do not have any heavy layer that will weigh it down.
Speaking of performance, the Nomu S30 Mini reaches just over 34, 000 points on AnTuTu, it is a modest score but it corresponds to its processor. We have tried to play with a game as demanding as Asphalt Xtreme and the game runs quite smoothly, logically it does not reach the level of detail and fluidity of a top-of-the-range model but it can be played perfectly.
Battery, camera and connectivity
All this is powered by a generous battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh, a figure quite high for its specifications and that augurs a very good autonomy as long as the software does not have optimization problems, of course. During the time that I have been using it it has come to give me about 5 hours of screen approximately, this is a data that depends a lot on the use that is given to it but there should be no problems to end the day unless we spend the day playing.
As for the optics, the Nomu S30 Mini has an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera, it is clear that it is not its strong section although they will serve us to take several photos when we do not have our camera at hand. We leave you some samples of what it is capable of:
Interior with flash
Interior without flash
Of course it is not lacking WiFi 802.11n + Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + GLONASS for perfect wireless connectivity.
Final words and conclusion about Nomu S30 Mini
Nomu S30 Mi does not reach the market to offer users an excellent low-cost alternative within the ruggedized smartphone sector. Its design is very robust and it is more than prepared to withstand falls that could destroy a more conventional smartphone, of course the screen is still its weakest point and its Gorilla Glass 3 laminate is not the most resistant, despite it is an excellent protection for day-to-day activities.
Its carbon fiber reinforced rear cover protects the area where the battery is hidden, this is very important because damage to the battery could be catastrophic. It also offers a very good protection to the cover underneath that covers the MicroSIM and MicroSD slots.

The presence of Android 7.0 without customization layers is a success, as it does not ensure that the performance of the terminal will not be weighed down by a resource-consuming software, very well in this regard. The performance of the terminal is modest, because let's not forget that it includes a processor with only four Cortex A53 cores that do not stand out precisely because they are the most powerful on the market, the same can be said about their Mali T720 GPU. Despite this, the performance is more than enough, it is not a gamer-oriented terminal so it really does not need more power to work well.
If you are looking for a ruggedized smarphone and you do not want to spend a lot of money, the Nomu S30 Mini is an excellent option from 130 euros in the main Chinese online stores.
