New version of 3dmark with a new dx12 test
The popular 3DMark benchmark software has been updated with the new “API Overhead feature test” test to assess the differences in performance between different graphical APIs.
The new test will only be available in the Advanced and Professional versions and has been designed to evaluate the performance of the DirectX 11, DirectX 12 and Mantle APIs (in the form of draw calls ) and to be able to make a comparison between them using the same system.
In no way should we take the data as significant of the final performance of video games since for this we must wait for a new test that is being prepared by Futuremark that will offer a workload similar to that found in video games by then to be able to Get an idea of the improvement that DirectX 12 can make compared to DirectX 11 and Mantle in the performance of video games. Such a test is expected to arrive shortly after the launch of Windows 10.
The requirements of the new test are as follows:
- DirectX 12 Test: Windows 10 Technical Preview, 4 GB of RAM and a 1GB graphic compatible with DirectX 11.0 Test Mantle: 4 GB of RAM and AMD GCNTest DirectX 11 hardware: 4 GB of RAM and 1GB graphics compatible with DirectX 11.0
