New amd trademarks: kyzen, aragon, pharos, promethean and coreamp
Table of contents:
AMD has recently applied to register several brands for its upcoming products. It is undoubtedly a very interesting document because some of these brands were already announced by AMD last week during Financial Analyst Day.
The new trademarks registered by the company are RX Vega, Threadripper, Epyc, Kyzen, Aragon, Pharos, Promethean, Zenso and CoreAmp. The most interesting thing is that all these brands were registered around the same period, in the month of March, and at least three of them debuted as products in May.
AMD also registered the Ryzen brand just a few months before announcing the first Ryzen products, so it's the same pattern followed by the company, and some of these brands may come out with their own products in the coming months.
AMD Kyzen, Aragon, Pharos, Promethean and CoreAmp
Let's start with the products that were announced by the company: Threadripper & EPYC, both trademarks registered in March and which went on to become brands for AMD's new high-end PC and server processors. Then there is Kyzen, a name that sounds very similar to Ryzen, and it could be a future processor.
CoreAmp sounds like a name that AMD would put to some overclocking function or tool. More information on it may appear after the release of Threadripper and Vega.
On the other hand, Promethean seems like the code name that AMD would give a high-end chipset for Threadripper processors. We already know that AMD loves names derived from Greek mythology.
Among other things, Pharos and Aragon do not seem like brands, but rather internal code names for AMD technologies. But they could also be the names for the “ on-chip ” technologies that AMD works on for their upcoming products.
Finally there is Zenso, which is the name of the Zen logo that AMD uses for Ryzen. In short, they are very interesting names and we are very curious to see what the future products that will carry them will be.
