New Chinese competitor entering the drama market
Table of contents:
Tsinghua Unigroup, from China, today announced its entry into the DRAM market, becoming the third Chinese company to do so in recent years.
Tsinghua Unigroup is a new company that will manufacture DRAM memory modules
Tsinghua Unigroup announced that it formed a new business unit for DRAM production in a one-sentence statement released on Sunday. According to analyst Trendforce , although Tsinghua has just started working on his DRAM division, which he described as "in the early stages, " he should have no trouble completing development of the division. Tsinghua first spoke about building a DRAM division in 2014, but those plans were suspended in favor of designing NAND flash technology, Trendforce noted.
The DRAM unit is financed for the most part with funds from the Chinese government, as well as the DRAM businesses of two other companies in that country such as Jinhua Integrated Circuit Company (JHICC) and Changxin Memory Technologies (CMT, previously called Innotron Memory)..
In November, JHICC was accused by the United States government of stealing DRAM technology from Micron, a US provider of memory technologies. Shortly after the indictment, the CMT also changed the design of its memory technologies to avoid any possible infringement of US companies' patents.

Trendforce analysts believe Tsinghua's plans were revived because JHICC was included on the U.S. Entity List. last year, banning US companies supply you with technology. The ban almost forced JHICC to fail, and Trendorce analysts don't believe the CMT's memory division is enough to satisfy local demand or the Chinese government's hopes of becoming independent from American companies.
This should be good news for long-term users, the more companies that dedicate themselves to offering DRAM modules, there will be more price competition between manufacturers and less scarcity, resulting in lower prices for RAM memory modules that are used in almost all areas, PC, mobile and other devices.
