The new 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro's are even thinner than previous models. Specifically, it reaches only 5.9 mm. and with this, complaints have already arisen that, inevitably, bring us echoes of the past: is the new iPad Pro more likely to bend than it should or, on the contrary, is everything robust and resistant that is expected of this product?

Is the 2018 iPad Pro weaker than the previous model?

The new thickness of the iPad Pro, 5.9mm, has already caused at least two user complaints in the support forums. In addition, a new video suggests that both models have the potential to be bent without requiring excessive force on them.

In the MacRumors web forum there have been some complaints about this hypothetical weakness problem. User Bwrin1, for example, has published a photo (above these lines) in which you can see how the 12.9-inch iPad Pro appears tilted, according to him, after spending a weekend of travel in a backpack.

In this image, the iPad Pro seems to have acquired a certain curvature that prevents it from resting properly on the table. Simultaneously, JerryRigEverything has released a bend test video of the new iPad Pro, proving that the device can indeed be bent if a certain force is exerted on it that does not appear to be excessive.

Despite the video and the complaint collected on the forum, it does not seem to be a widespread problem although two other MacRumors readers have reported observing slight curves on their devices when they have received it at home. In any case, for the moment, the controversy has not reached the levels of the “bendgate” experienced with the iPhone 6 Plus in 2014.

At the moment it is not clear if the new iPad Pro are or are not more flexible than the previous ones, considering that tests like the previous one do not obey a pattern of use in the real world. Nor has Apple spoken about it. We will have to wait.
