The first fully passive Mini-PCs have arrived with AMD Ryzen, from the British manufacturer Tranquil. Let's get to know them.

Tranquil launches mini-PCs with Ryzen and Vega

The new mini-PCs will have integrated AMD Ryzen Embedded processors, quite effective solutions for this format and which have low consumption.

Specifically, you can select between the Ryzen Embedded V1202B or V1605B. The former has two cores and four threads running at a turbo frequency of up to 3.2GHz, and a very modest Vega 3 integrated graphics, while the latter has 4 cores and 8 threads, making it much more interesting, a turbo 3.6GHz and the integrated Vega 8, the same that we find in processors like the Ryzen 3 2200G and that should give a fairly decent performance for multimedia tasks.

The new equipment incorporates RAM between 8 and 32GB, and always in dual channel, and an M.2 SSD between 250GB and 1TB, although without revealing if it works through the SATA or NVMe interface. Regarding connectivity, we have the possibility of Gigabit LAN, WiFi ac and Bluetooth.

The front of the equipment incorporates a USB 3.1 Type C, 1 USB 2.0, an audio input and output (jack), while the rear incorporates 2 Ethernet ports, 2 USB 2.0, and 4 Displayport. The latter is remarkable since this equipment is made to support up to 4 4K screens.

Tranquil mini-PCs will be available from August 30, at 765 euros for the version with the Ryzen Embedded 2-core and 4-wire with 250GB SSD, while the version with the superior processor, 16GB of RAM and SSD 250GB will cost 880 euros. The highest version incorporates 32GB of RAM and a 1TB M.2 for 1, 300 euros. All versions have the same connectivity, 3-year warranty, and an external 60-watt source.

These teams promise very little, weigh less than 2 kilos and are only 18 × 15.7 × 5.4 centimeters. What do you think of Tranquil's bet?
