With the imminent launch of the new Nvidia Ampere graphics cards, the first leaks begin to emerge. We count it inside.
Are you thinking of changing your graphics card? If you are one of those who ask this question, we recommend waiting for the departure of the new generation of Nvidia " Ampere ". In this case, the leak was provided by Twitter user @ dylan552p, who performed some mathematical operations on the performance power of future Nvidia GPUs. Here are all the details.
Nvidia Ampere: 18 performance TeraFLOPs
Tweeter " dylan552p " has investigated the graphics cards that will equip the Big Red 200, a supercomputer that will be used by Indiana University. This equipment is developed in two phases: the first is equipped with 672 dual sockets that are powered by AMD EPYC 7742 processors: 64 cores at a base frequency of 2.25 GHz. Those processors provide 3.15 PetaFLOPs thanks to FP64 performance. This leads to a total of 8 performance PetaFLOPs in the Big Red 200.
Indiana University says it will add 256 GPUs that will arrive later this year. This stands for AMD Milan + 4 Nvidia Ampere. These calculations would lead us to conclude that each GPU should provide 18.04 TFlops. In fact, if Milan doubles that performance, it would yield 17.61 TFlops per graphics card.
In short, the power of the upcoming Nvidia graphics cards will be superlative thanks to the leak of the technical specifications of the new Indiana University supercomputer . This will equip 4 graphics cards of the next generation "Ampere".
Of course, this user has been very clever to see specifications and perform a couple of calculations to get to know the performance of these new components. What is clear is that we are not going to have to wait long to see these mysterious graphics cards unveiled.
We recommend the best graphics cards on the market
What do you think of the possible specifications of the next Nvidia graphics cards? Do you think its performance will be much higher?
