A Wccftech source warns of the next generation of NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards, which will power the RTX 30 series, if Nvidia decides to call them that after all.

NVIDIA to announce its Ampere graphics card during the GTC

The source claims that NVIDIA will announce its Ampere graphics card during the GTC in March. Although our source did not mention 7nm, all tests so far have indicated that Ampere will be built on the 7nm platform.

Obviously, this is not the first time we have heard of Ampere graphics cards or even a release date in the second half of 2020, but it is the first time that we have heard of the GTC 2020 as the subject of a leak. The GTC is NVIDIA's premier technology fair and it would make perfect sense to unveil its new Ampere product line during the conference. Although we haven't heard from TSMC (in fact, the recent Taiwan report doesn't even mention NVIDIA as one of 7nm's customers), the use of Samsung's 7nm EUV node is not out of the question for the company, and In fact, it could be used for Ampere graphics cards.

We had already heard of NVIDIA's Ampere GPUs when they passed EEC certification, but nothing more has been heard since. Now, however, we have a tentative schedule - they will launch in 2020. NVIDIA will most likely continue its RTX philosophy and take it to the next level with Ampere.

The goal would be to improve Ray Tracing support with better performance for it, where it is possible to run Ray Tracing games in 1080p and 60 fps fluently. We will keep you informed.
