We traveled to Madrid to attend the event this past Tuesday in which Nvidia presented the new line of laptops equipped with GeForce RTX GPUs. A Turing architecture that provides a power of 70% compared to desktop computers, but consuming a third less. We had the opportunity to test and see these RTX benefits first hand on multiple brands and models.

Maximum power with Ray Tracing and low consumption is what Nvidia gives these laptops.

With a presentation in style, Nvidia has officially presented in Spain the new range of laptops that match the impressive Turing architecture of its graphics cards. Brands such as Razer, MSI, Asus, Lenovo, Gigabyte and Acer are the ones that have opted to create high-performance laptops with the brand's new Nvidia RTX.

We already know well the capabilities these new cards provide to the desktop computers that mount them. The new capability of real-time ray tracing that emulates the behavior of photons hitting surfaces is something that no manufacturer other than Nvidia has managed to do. The best thing of all is that now we will also be able to enjoy this rendering capacity in the new range of notebooks that are coming soon.

But it is not only about gross power, the tests carried out indicate that the graphic performance of these GPUs reaches 70% compared to desktops and consumes only a third of energy. This is somewhat impressive, since cards such as the RTX 2080 or 2070, have a TDP of only 80W compared to 250W for desktop computers. Of course these teams also implement DLSS technology to intelligently smooth and interpret the edges of objects, a new technology that surpasses Anti-Aliasing.

The new range of notebooks with Nvidia RTX

The new range of laptops with Nvidia RTX, will be able to take advantage of all the possibilities of games such as Battlefield V, Anthem or PlayerUnknown´s, which are currently implemented by Ray Tracing.

Among the laptops we saw in the presentation were the Lenovo Legion Y740 with a 17-inch screen, an Intel Core i7-8750H CPU, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, and the Gigabyte Aero 15 X9, with a 17.3 4K UHD screen, CPU Core i7-7820HK and 32GB DDR4 RAM. These two laptops mount an Nvidia RTX 2070.

On the other hand, we also have three other laptops that raise the level by mounting an Nvidia RTX 2080, these will be the following. The Razer Blade 15, a laptop with a 15-inch screen at 144 Hz and 4K, Intel Core i7-8750H CPU and 16 GB DDR4 RAM. We also have the Acer Predator Triton 500, with a Full HD 1080p 144 Hz screen, 8th generation i7 CPU and 32 GB DDR4 RAM. And finally the MSI GS65, with a 15.6-inch Full HD 144 Hz screen and 8th-generation i7 CPU.

Undoubtedly, purely high-end gaming laptops and a fairly high cost, but with the obvious advantages of the new Turing architecture for enthusiasts. Power and efficiency are the keys to this new generation of RTX laptops. Are you thinking of buying any of these new models? Do you think it is worth buying one of these gaming laptops? Write us, and comment on your impressions of this Nvidia event and the new RTX devices.
