Nvidia releases geforce gtx 980 for notebooks
Nvidia has released the GeForce GTX 980 for notebooks with specifications almost identical to the desktop model, so we can see Notebooks with very high performance in video games. The new GeForce GTX 980 for laptops features an Nvidia GM204 GPU with its 2, 048 CUDA Cores enabled at a maximum frequency of 1175MHz along with 4GB / 8GB of GDDR5 memory at a frequency of 7GHz. Essentially this is the same configuration. than the desktop GTX 980 except for a slightly lower operating frequency to keep its TDP between 150 and 165W.
Nvidia will allow the card to be overclocked so it should be able to reach frequencies of 1400 MHz in the core and 7.5 GHz in memory to further increase its performance. To help this task, it will also be possible to adjust the speed of the cooling fans.
Now to see how engineers manage with the cooling systems of the laptops that mount it and at what prices they arrive.
