Nvidia would launch new rtx cards with a bandwidth of 16 gbps

NVIDIA is preparing to update its range of Turing graphics cards this year with a higher spec version on its GDDR6 memory. Originally, the RTX 20 series GPUs were paired with Micron's GDDR6 memory, with a top speed of 14 Gbps. There are some cards from Nvidia's partners that use GDDR6 from Samsung's labs, but still have a bandwidth of 14 Gbps.

Is NVIDIA preparing new RTX graphics cards with 16Gbps GDDR6 memory?

The new rumor is that Nvidia is preparing new RTX 20 series graphics cards with GDDR6 memories that would run at 16 Gbps, thus offering much greater memory bandwidth than the current graphics cards offered by the green team. Micron is known to have been able to overclock its memory to 20Gbps, but no one is so optimistic as to see it reflected in the new models.

Many believe that this is a measure to counter the new AMD Navi graphics cards that will come out in the middle of this year, in which the red company will try to put NVIDIA in serious trouble in the mid-range segment.

The question is this enough? We can guess that AMD bet on graphics cards with a good price / performance value, which the NVIDIA RTX series does not have. There doesn't seem to be much leeway for NVIDIA beyond raising memory bandwidth, we'll see if this works.

In this regard, the only RTX variant that could receive a new model would be the RTX 2060 with a 'Ti' model, which with another pair of enabled SMs could provide 2, 176 CUDA cores, and with the GDDR6 at 16 Gbps it would have 384 GB / s of memory bandwidth.

AMD Navi has a launch scheduled for before the end of September, this would be around a year after the launch of the RTX 2080 along with the RTX 2080 Ti.
