A few days ago we told you about the great announcement of Acer with its Predator Triton 700, a laptop that comes with the best of technology to play any self-respecting video game anywhere. Apparently this laptop would come with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 MaxQ graphics card as well as a choice GTX 1070 MaxQ, two graphics cards that had not been announced by Nvidia.

GTX 1080 MaxQ & GTX 1070 MaxQ to debut on Predator Triton 700 notebook

Acer Predator Triton 700 is going to be the first laptop to have these two graphics cards specially designed for laptops, this means that they are variants with lower power consumption, but also with lower performance than their desktop siblings.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 MaxQ would use the same GP104 chip, but with the same amount of CUDA Cores, 256 bits of memory and other internal features, only the frequency will drop from 1556 MHz to 1290 MHz. This reduction in the frequency of the GPU would allow to decrease the TDP from 165W to 110W, something that will be appreciated by the battery of this laptop.

In the case of the GeForce GTX 1070 MaxQ the frequency of its GPU will also be decreased while keeping all the characteristics of the GP104 chip intact, thanks to this the TDP is reduced to 90W instead of the 120W of the model for desktop PC.

Performance comparison

If we compare the performance of the PC and laptop versions, we see that the GTX 1080 MaxQ for laptops is equivalent to the performance of a GTX 1070 for PCs and is 20% below its big brother, not bad.

The Predator Triton 700 will be available from the month of November in Spain.
