Nvidia prepares a gtx 1060 with 5 gb vram and 1280 codes cuda

We know that there are currently two variants of the GeForce GTX 1060, one with 6GB and the other cheaper with 3GB of memory. The difference between the two in terms of price and possibilities is quite wide, because what NVIDIA wants to launch an alternative that is in the middle of both proposals.

GTX 1060 with 5GB VRAM to debut in China first

That is why the green company would be preparing a new variant of the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, but this time with 5GB of VRAM memory. The number of CUDA cores would remain as in the 6GB variant, the advantage is that it would be cheaper.

Currently many games are in need of 4GB of VRAM memory or more in order to be enjoyed at their highest quality, which is why the 3GB GTX 1060 is quickly falling behind the 6GB models. This new variant would solve this gap.

The new graphics card would occupy a GP106-350-K3-A1 chip

According to reports from Chinese sources, NVIDIA is creating a new variant of this card with 5GB of VRAM memory that will directly target internet cafes in the APAC region. This model is designed to reduce costs in this market and maintain similar graphics performance. But, the jump to the stores would be imminent after this launch.

This GPU will be known as GP106-350-K3-A1, with 1280 CUDA cores. The other variants of the GP106 GPU include GP106-400-A1 for the 6GB GTX 1060 and GP106-300-A1 for the 3GB GTX 1060. One of the big differences we would see in the memory bus, which in this case would be 160 bits instead of 192 bits.
