Last week, Nvidia released the GeForce 430.39 WHQL drivers with improved support for some recent titles, the new GTX 1650 graphics cards, and the Windows 10 May 2019 update. But based on numerous complaints on social media, the controller also caused high CPU usage for some users. New GeForce 430.53 drivers are correcting this problem.

GeForce 430.53 fixes issues with excessive CPU usage

Multiple people said that the Nvidia driver was using 10-20% of the CPU, even with no programs running. Restarting the system did not resolve the problem, which appeared after a few moments of starting the system.

Nvidia acknowledged the problem on its forum, with an employee saying that the company was "able to consistently reproduce the error now" and that it was "testing a solution." That was April 26. The company has not yet followed up on this arrangement or responded to other complaints in the same thread. Users also complained about performance issues in games like Final Fantasy XV and Shadow of the Tomb Raider that could be related to these drivers.

With the latest GeForce 430.53 drivers released, that issue should be resolved, along with other things that this release solves.

From the change log:

  • Fixed increased CPU usage by NVDisplay.Container.exe introduced in driver 430.39.3D Mark Time Spy: Blink observed when benchmark launches BeamNG: App crashes when game launches Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Se Freezes when started in SLI mode Desktop blinks when videos are played on secondary monitor.

All of these issues were resolved with the new GeForce 430.53 drivers. You can download them right now from the Nvidia support site.
