Based on all the recent issues we've heard after KB4512941's recent upgrade to Windows 10, it seems like Microsoft is n't learning, and we're having a bug again causing high CPU usage in the window operating system.

Windows 10 and a new high CPU consumption bug

In a new one an error has been found in the update, which again affects the CPU usage. However, instead of being Cortana based, this time it's more to do with your keyboard inputs.

Fortunately, if you're reading this, chances are this latest bug isn't giving you too much trouble as it's only affecting those keyboards that are set to Chinese.

The last problem is found in the Simplified Chinese (ChsIME.EXE) and Traditional Chinese (ChtIME.EXE) programs with the Changjie / Quick keyboard.

For reasons that are (again) unclear, these applications have been found to be swallowing a lot of CPU usage. In other words, we have a problem with the Input Method Editor (IME) here.

“Some input method editors (IMEs) may be unresponsive or have high CPU usage. The affected IMEs include Simplified Chinese (ChsIME.EXE) and Traditional Chinese (ChtIME.EXE) with Changjie / Quick keyboard ”. - Microsoft

How to fix it?

Although a formal “fix” is expected in the coming weeks, if you have this problem in Windows 10, there is a solution.

  • Select the Start button and type Services. Locate the touch keyboard and handwriting panel service and double click on it or press and select Properties. Find the startup type: and change it to Manual. Select OK

The TabletInputService service is now in the default settings and the IME should work properly.
