Nvidia answers about its next gpus in 7 nm
Table of contents:
As we know, Nvidia still continues to use 12nm manufacturing processing FinFET, while AMD has already made the leap to 7nm with its Vega and Navi graphics. The green company has been at the Credit Suisse Annual Technology Conference 2019 giving some clues about that jump towards 7 nm. When will it do it?
Nvidia answers about its upcoming 7nm GPUs
The company answered the big question about 7nm and when will this node be used for its graphics cards. Knowing that the Turing graphics architecture was widely rumored long before its official announcement, it's surprising that we still don't know anything about Ampere and its jump to 7nm.
This is what the green company replied:
At the rate at which we see AI advance and acceleration advance, they need that skill to change that overall development along the way. They need the ability to program, otherwise their investment is very, very difficult for them to get a return on. The return on investment that is obtained by buying the set of GPUs without a complete ending on the platform is of great help to them. -Colette Kress, CFO, Nvidia.

If we read between the lines, we see that Nvidia is not considering the 12 FinFET node as 'finished' but that there could be one more generation of graphics cards using this node. The answer is somewhat ambiguous and can be interpreted in many ways. We will keep you informed.
