Oculus announces rift s glasses for 399 usd, the ultimate rv experience

Oculus today announced an upgrade to their original Rift glasses, the Oculus Rift S. The revamped glasses showcase their evolution of the VR experience, as well as learnings gained through the development of the original Rift, Oculus Go, and standalone Oculus Quest , to offer the ultimate new RV experience.

Oculus Rift S improves the screen and is more comfortable

The Oculus Rift S features improved panels with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 (same as the Oculus GO), offering 40% more pixels and improving the pixel subsystem with groupings of three instead of two. It also includes the Oculus Quest's tracking capabilities, with five cameras instead of the Oculus Quest's four, plus redesigned drivers.

Device improvements don't end there, Rift S also features a new head strap, built-in audio, and Passthrough + technology, plus other improvements when it comes to comfort in use, better weight distribution and better light blocking. It will also implement a single-cable system for a more free and hassle-free experience.

Minimum and recommended requirements

The first version of Oculus was launched in 2016 at a price of 699 euros. Since then, we are seeing how its technology has evolved, improving its image quality, comfort and price, which has dropped about $ 200 since then, improving its main features.

It has also been revealed that Lenovo was involved in the development of the Oculus Rift S, bringing its expertise. The device will be available in spring.
