Unfortunately this product has not been assigned by OCZ, but we have decided to buy it in order to review it and share our experience with you.

OCZ Trion 150: Unboxing and Design

OCZ makes a basic presentation in a cardboard box and inside it is protected by a plastic blister. On the cover we can see an image, the size of the disk and the model in question. While in the back all the most important features of the product.

Once we open the bundle we find:

  • 480 GB OCZ Trion 150 Drive Quick Guide Warranty Brochure

Its format is 2.5 inches through the traditional SATA connection and has dimensions 69.9 mm x 100.1 mm x 7.0 mm that these discs have accustomed us to. Its weight like the other SSDs that we have analyzed does not exceed 65 grams and the entire structure is made of metal that helps improve cooling.

Inside we come across a Toshiba TC58 controller and Toshiba 15nm TLC NAND memories. These allow this 480GB model a sequential read of 550MB / s and write of 530MB / s. While 4KB Random reading is 86K IOPS and 83K IOPS writing.

OCZ offers a three-year guarantee, although according to what we have read on its website they assure us of up to 120 TB written before it starts to fail, that is… about 110 GB a day. Obviously, these quantities we will not get to use, since this would imply installing Windows 10 repeatedly during the day… but who does this? hehe

We recommend you read our guide to the best SSDs of the moment

Regarding electricity consumption, we have 0.2W at rest and 4.8W when it is at maximum power writing. It also supports operating temperatures between 0ºC to 62ºC.

Final words and conclusion about OCZ Trion 150

OCZ has done a great job with this new series of SSD drives, which although they have been on the market for a short time, have had quite a lot of expectation among end users due to numerous offers from various online establishments.

In our tests it has offered almost the promised results in reading, so it does not meet all the specifications promised by the manufacturer. Since they are almost 100 MB / s less… In their favor, it should be noted that it hardly gets hot and its performance is excellent during the day to day.
