Finally we offer you our analysis of a gaming headset that has been talked about for a few weeks, it is the Onikuma K5, a model with a really low sale price, but that promises to offer great sound quality to users on a budget tight. The manufacturer has also not neglected aspects such as comfort and aesthetics, something that is often not so evident in much more expensive models.
Will cheap headphones be worth it? Will it measure up to others worth twice as much? Don't miss our review!
Onikuma K5 technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The manufacturer has opted for a cardboard box to pack the Onikuma K5 headset, it is a fairly good quality box, with a colorful print that is far from the neutral colored boxes that we see in many Chinese products. The box shows us a high resolution image of the headset, as well as its most important specifications. We open the box and find the headset inside, covered by bubble wrap to avoid any type of damage during transport, an economical and simple measure that works perfectly.
Along with headset we find all the documentation, including a card that encourages us to leave a valuation on amazon to receive a free gaming mouse as a gift, all a detail of the brand. A splitter is also attached to us to separate the connection of the microphone and the speakers into two different 3.5 mm connectors, something that will improve the compatibility with our PCs.
We take the Onikuma K5 headset out of bubble wrap and we already have it in the foreground before the camera. It is a headste made of black and gray plastic in its entirety, something that was already to be expected since it is very economical. We emphasize that its design is very aggressive, with angular lines that follow a gaming aesthetic. The manufacturer has done a good job in the design, no one can complain about it.
Onikuma K5 is based on a traditional headband design, made of plastic and with a fairly abundant padding on the inside to improve wearing comfort during long sessions for the most active gamers. This headband has a height adjustment system, with a steel structure to guarantee great durability. This headband promises to be quite comfortable during use, we will check it in our tests.
We now focus on the domes, which have a very aggressive and angular design to give it a gaming touch, which is enhanced by the blue lighting system that the manufacturer has installed. Every day it costs more to find a peripheral without lighting, even the cheapest have become fashionable.
In these domes there are very abundant pads, with an external diameter of 95 mm and internal of 50 mm that will accommodate even the largest ears. These pads are quite soft, and are finished in synthetic leather to offer excellent insulation from the outside, although be prepared to sweat in the summer.
Inside the domes are the drivers, in this case made of neodymium and with a large size of 50 mm. The characteristics of these drivers continue with a response frequency of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, an impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 108 dB +/- 3. On paper these are excellent drivers, which are at the height of headsets that even reach 100 euros or more, we will have to wait for the tests to verify it. These drivers offer virtual 7.1 surround sound for better positioning of enemies on the battlefield.
In the left dome we find the microphone, with a folding design and an omni-directional pattern. This micro which works with an impedance of 2200 ohms and a sensitivity of -38 dB (+/- 3). The microphone is usually the aspect in which the most is saved in cheap headphones, it will be interesting to see if Onikuma is capable of taking the colors out of many manufacturers.
The left dome is also where the connection cable to the PC starts, it is a braided cable to offer better resistance, and it ends in a USB connector to power the lighting and a 3.5 mm jack connector TRRS. The cable also includes the control knob, with a potentiometer for volume and the button to mute the mic.
Its 3.5mm TRRS jack connector makes the Onikuma K5 compatible with a large number of devices in addition to the PC, including consoles, smartphones, tables and many more. The only downside that we see at this point, is having to use a USB connector only for lighting, more in a product that will be on our head and that we will not see it.
Final words and conclusion about Onikuma K5
The ONIKUMA K5 are headphones with a very good performance / price. It has very important details for its low price: very gamer design, they are very comfortable both for the headband and the pads of each earphone, it is compatible with any device that has a minijack and they are very flexible.
The only downside we have found is that the microphone picks up the voice very far and is less heard than other headphones. Not being so flexible in this regard, we must play the dBa of the microphone from our operating system or raise our voice (not feasible if it is at night: P).
You also have to take into account it incorporates lighting, but to activate it we need to plug the USB cable into our tower. Do we really need LED light while we play? It is for lovers of lights, but it is not really practical for day to day.
The price is devastating! Currently we find it on Amazon between 25. Today, we believe that there are no better helmets for this price. It has its drawbacks, but they are forgiven for their cost. What do you think of the ONIKUMA K5?
The manufacturer has sent us a 10% discount code: 3X7DQ7XR Take advantage of it!
