Opera has always been a browser that has tried to innovate, in addition to being one of the first to include tabbed browsing (year 2000), a year before Mozilla Firefox and when Google Chrome did not even exist. Not to mention when Dial-Up technology was included, especially to accelerate navigation with 56kb connections, among many other implementations that came to Opera again over the years.

Opera 43 is a real alternative for Firefox and Chrome

In Opera 43 a new functionality has been implemented that allows the browser to predict the website that we are going to access and load it in the background. This functionality is called Instant Page Loading and what it does is load on a website in the background while typing in the browser address bar.

When we are looking for a site in the address bar, recommendations that resemble the words we are typing in will almost always appear, what Opera does is go ahead to the site we are looking for and load it beforehand before we press enter. This saves us a few moments in the loading of a website that are fundamental and with a normal ADSL connection the difference should be noticeable in the loading speed.

Instant page load

Opera has also rewritten the browser build code for the Windows version, which now uses Profile Guided Optimization (PGO). This allows the browser to load faster and reduce CPU utilization in order to function normally. This is also good news for those who surf on laptops, it would translate into lower battery consumption.

Opera 43 is now available, in its versions for Windows, Mac and Linux.
