The Ozone Dual FX come into our hands, in-ear headphones that start from the premise of high-resolution sound using dynamic drivers. Many of you may be surprised by this sound quality in headphones that are not gaming but believe me: you are not the only ones. We tell you the experience.
Many of you will already know the name of Ozone. This Spanish company based in Malaga is characterized by bringing us products especially focused on gaming, although this time it departs slightly from this world to offer us headphones that are not only made to stay at home keeping the PC company but to travel the world to our side. Let's start.
Ozone Dual FX Technical Specifications
Unboxing and Design
Ozone Dual FX Packaging
We start as always with the packaging and its presentation. Ozone brings us the Dual FX in a cardboard box with a sliding dust jacket that doubles as a case. On the cover of the same we can see an image of the headphones along with the Ozone logo, the name of its model and the certificate of High Definition Audio (Hi-Res Audio).
On the back we receive the full name of the model Dual FX Dual Driver In-ear Headphones along with some technical descriptions in a total of six languages on the capabilities of these headphones such as:
- Dual Dynamic Driver: Two dynamic drivers on each camera enhance bass performance creating a rich and deep atmosphere. With high resolution sound and a 40KHz frequency you can hear every detail. Integrated controller in the cable: Control everything you need with a single click. Push to talk, multimedia actions and integrated volume regulator.
Then we can read several additional data both on its technical specifications and using an infographic. about the contents of the box, in it we must find:
- Ozone Dual FX Headphones Plastic Case Six Interchangeable Silicone Ear Plugs PC Adapter Quick Start Guide
Finally, at the bottom of the back we find the web address of the product along with its serial number and various quality certificates.
When removing the sliding case that covers the box we find that it has a die-cut window so that we can see the included case to store the headphones when we are not using them. This case is in satin black cardboard with a lid closure. When we lift it we can see the rest of the content: PC adapter with 3.5 jack separation for audio and microphone, the cover in which are the interchangeable plugs and finally the Ozone Dual FX themselves.
Ozone Dual FX Design
Headphones
The headphones have a design recognizable to the naked eye by their color. Ozone has pulled brand identity and brings us a combination of red and black for all its elements. In a world where most small headphone cables are black or white, a touch of variety is appreciated.
It is made of matte plastic, quite flexible, and with a cable length of 1.2m. It is from the second third when we find the integrated multimedia controller and the division of the cable into left and right earphones. The separation height is not adjustable since it is part of the controller itself, but each headphone has an individual length of about 28cm, which is more than enough to put them on comfortably.
Regarding the controller, it has a slider for the sound and a button by means of which with the appropriate pulsation frequency we can perform actions such as calls, pause songs or press to speak. On the back we can see the Ozone logo screenprinted.
The termination of the 3.5 jack port does not describe an exact angle of 45º but is somewhat wider. Unlike other brands, the plastic used in this area is slightly stiffer than we are used to. This is a detail that has caught our attention and liked equally since it indirectly lengthens the life of our headphones since it protects it more effectively against stronger account pulls or snags.
If we go on to talk about headphones as such, the first thing that can catch our attention is their size and shape. Although the silicone section that we introduce in the ear does not offer anything that we are already used to, it is the exterior that interests us.
Because the high definition audio format is included in each ear individually, in each earphone we find an earbud in which the two speakers are in charge of reinforcing the bass and enriching the sound with a frequency of up to 40 KHz. Meanwhile, the in-ear camera is 6mm in size. All of this leads to the headphones weighing a total of 15.8g.
Accessories
We talk about the Ozone Dual FX headphone case. It is matt black and on its cover we can see the Ozone Imagologo stamped in red. It is made of semi-rigid PVC and has a certain impermeability. Its closure is by zipper and when opened we find an interior lined with black fabric. In addition, on one of its sides we have a fabric mesh in which to store accessories such as the PC connector or the plugs of sizes that we do not use.
On the PC adapter, it consists of a red cable that branches from the female to the 3.5 jack ports of headphones and microphone, recognizable not only by their red and green rings but by having an identifying icon stamped on the connector port itself.
Finally, we talk about silicone plugs. In the case of the Ozone Dual FX we are dealing with in-ear headphones ( in-ear ). These differ from the standard earbud or earbud in that it not only accommodates the space in front of the ear canal but is designed to fit slightly within the canal using ear plugs.
Because no two ears are the same, the Ozone ones have been quite savvy in this regard and within the box of the Ozone Dual FX we can find a total of six caps, two for each size dividing between Small, Medium and Large. In the same red color as the cable, this is a consideration for the user that we have appreciated since this type of headphones is not made to everyone's taste precisely because they may have a certain tendency to fall. With the inclusion of three different sizes, Ozone makes sure to put resources within our reach so that we are 100% comfortable.
In our case we have discovered that the ideal size for us is size M, and although changing the caps can be a cumbersome and delicate task in equal parts something we can assure you: once put on, they will not fall out even remotely.
The external silicone, the one that adapts to our ear canal, is soft and noticeably thinner than the one that forms the internal section that fits in the headphones. In the inner tube there is a slight streak-shaped resistance that fits into the grooves of the Ozone Dual FX headphones themselves, thus guaranteeing their position.
Putting Ozone Dual FX into use
The part comes when we go from analyzing the presentation to the fieldwork. To start, we must tell you that its 3.5 jack port guarantees total versatility to these headphones, being valid in practically any product from smartphones to your desktop PC. In addition, if your computer has differentiated micro and audio connectors (like that of a server), the included differential adapter prevents the party from running dry.
About the sound
We come from quite normal headphones for day to day. Overall, to go buy bread you don't need great luxuries, right? Gross mistake. These are not specialized gaming headphones, we already know that, but the audio quality when listening to music has pleasantly surprised us, especially when it comes to bass. Yes, it is true, it is not 7.1 surround sound, they are stereo headphones, but still the work done by its 6mm driver reinforced from behind with the two bass speakers achieves a wealth that we are not used to in "pocket headphones "
Using them in an office environment and comparing them to our on-ear headphones with larger drivers is when we have really realized how sharp they are to be so small. The controller integrated in the cable complies with the promoted functions without incident: skip songs, go backwards, push to talk, etc. Also, if we lower the volume to the maximum we obtain complete silence, without static.
Over the microphone
Making calls the audio we receive from our interlocutor tends to have little background noise and also the sound they receive through the integrated microphone is quite clear. We've also checked the talking distance issue and apparently we don't have to worry about holding the controller much closer to our lips to ensure we are heard (unless, of course, we're in a very bustling environment). This in normal conditions supposes a liberation to us since we will be able to be with the free hands while we speak.
Ergonomics
As we mentioned before, the fact that Ozone Dual FX already offers different sizes of earplugs speaks to the concern for user comfort that the brand has demonstrated. Regardless of how they adapt to the ear (since silicone has no mystery), on the outer earbud we have a “tab” also made of flexible silicone that is designed to be lodged behind the antitragus (that part of semi-rigid cartilage that is on the lobe). This is what fixes the hold of the headphones on our ear and prevents them from falling off with movement.
We have been using them in sessions from fifteen minutes to a couple of hours, both on the street and playing, and we must tell you that at no time have they been uncomfortable. On the other hand, it is true that silicone is not breathable and you may notice sweat in the ear canal after a certain time of use, but that is something that comes standard with this type of earphone models.
We have a couple more reviews of Ozone products that you can keep an eye on:
Final words and conclusions about Ozone Dual FX
Considering that they are more casual headphones than super-gaming ones, the Ozone Dual FX do their job very well. Ozone has tried to take care of the sound quality and its bass without forgetting extras such as the microphone, the storage cover or the detail of the plugs. This is a product in which we can perceive a dedication that justifies its starting price, about € 24.99.
We recommend you read the best gaming headphones on the market
On the other hand, silicone in-ear headphones are a type of model that is not made to everyone's liking. Although it is true that we have not been uncomfortable, it is possible to find users who for any reason are not comfortable with them due to factors such as silicone or sweat. If you are not a big fan of conventional gaming helmets, you have a limited budget and you are looking for something small that will also help you take it to the street without losing sound quality, look no further. The Ozone Dual FX are for you.
