Today we have with us the OZONE Neon X20, a mouse designed to play and to adapt to any type of player, right or left handed, together with the well-known Pixart PMW 3325 optical sensor. The brand has opted for a simple design and without complicated ergonomics to meet the demands of the players, but has added an impressive RGB lighting section along with its 9 programmable buttons. In this analysis we will check if this cheap mouse correctly meets the needs and is up to it, so let's get started!

We thank OZONE Spain for their trust in us in the transfer of the product for analysis.

OZONE Neon X20 technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

We begin this analysis with the Unboxing of this OZONE Neon X20, which has come to us in a cardboard box of a standard size and fully decorated in the manufacturer's vivid colors. Under a black and red background, we have a photo of our product with its RGB lighting and the model.

On the back we have another profile picture of this optical gaming mouse along with information in different languages to give us a good guide to the main characteristics of the product we are buying.

We open the box and we find a cardboard mold and the mouse perfectly accommodated in it and covered by another plastic mold. In addition to this, we only have the small quick installation manual for the mouse as extra accessories, we do not have spare surfers or buttons.

This OZONE Neon X20 is the most recent creation of OZONE and the union of the experience that the brand has been acquiring in previous products, in order to create a device with good features and above all versatile and accessible to both right and left-handed users.

As always, the first thing we must list are its technical characteristics. It is a mouse that equips a Pixart PMW 3325 optical sensor with a DPI resolution of 10, 000 pixels and a refresh rate of 1000 Hz, perfectly programmable from a mouse button or from its software.

It also has 9 programmable buttons where we highlight the use of Huano Switches for its two main buttons. With its two upper buttons we can select up to 6 custom DPI levels.

The upper area of this OZONE Neon X20 is the most important and is the one that we will describe first. We have a total of 5 buttons next to the navigation wheel covered with fluted rubber to improve touch and grip. We must say that it is a bit hard and the scroll does not become excessively agile.

Its two main buttons equip Huano switches and are directly supported by the upper case with a short travel, a soft touch and not too loud. They are wide enough to deposit almost any finger thickness on them.

The two upper buttons are used to select the 6 programmable and customizable DPI levels through software. They are very small and with very little protrusions, so they will not be a problem for accidental pulsations.

We continue with the buttons located on both sides of the OZONE Neon X20. It is two navigation buttons on each side identical in design and placement, since it is an ambidextrous mouse. The design is quite correct, they are two buttons that are not very bulky in size and not very prominent, so the placement of the fingers is good and they do not hinder to move or press them accidentally.

Without a doubt one thing to note about this mouse is that it is very low, you can see a fairly smooth curve in all the equipment in general and a slightly pronounced spine. On the entire side we can see a white band that houses the programmable RGB LED lighting of 16.7 million colors.

Finally we must note that the casing is divided into two parts that are joined at the back, perhaps the only drawback that this design has from a visual point of view, since the union is noticeable.

Being an ambidextrous team, we have no inclination whatsoever of the team, with a symmetrical design, shallow buttons and a rather nice and slightly slippery rubber texture. The cable exit is made through the central area with a good rubber mold so that it does not break with its use.

In the rear area we see clean and very simple lines with the lighting strip on the periphery and a great symbol of the brand in the center. This also has lighting, and its color will vary depending on the DPI level that we choose in the mouse.

We went to see the lower area, where we found two huge Teflon surfers located at each end of the mouse that make up a large sliding surface. We must make sure to keep them clean, since, because the surface is large, dirt could slow down mouse movements. Despite this, they are fast movements and with a good fluidity both in wood, glass and textile mat.

We also highlight the presence of a button to configure the OZONE Neon X20 Polling rate , in which case we have three different levels: 125, 500 and 1000 Hz. We do not have any weight compartment, so the weight of this mouse will always be 121 grams.

For connectivity, the manufacturer has opted for a USB connection with a 1.8 meter meshed cable and gold-plated connector, to optimize data transfer. We already know that, in most cases, gaming mice usually have a wired interface to create a more affordable product and reduce latency to zero.

Here we see some images of OZONE Neon X20 in operation and with its lighting in rainbow mode. The result is undoubtedly very striking, with little intrusive lighting but that helps to improve the final design of the equipment.

Grip and sensitivity tests on movement

We now turn to see the experience of using this OZONE Neon X20 with the different grips and tests that we have been submitting these peripherals and their sensors. It is a mouse of measures 128 mm long, 66 mm high and 37 wide, so it is a long device, of normal width and very short. The set weighs 121 grams, which is certainly not little, although there are heavier ones of course.

It is an ambidextrous mouse, so the sensations in both the left and right hands should be the same. Clearly we are dealing with a mouse that behaves well in the grip of palm or Palm Grip type for large or small hands.

Due to its low height, it is also comfortable in the Claw Grip or Claw Grip grip for large hands. In general the working position is quite low and it can be a bit strange if we are used to taller or bulky mice and that is why the natural position is going to be a mixture of Palm and Claw Grip.

In the two main positions I find very comfortable and little intrusive buttons on the sides and DPI. The mouse glides quite well and very stable due to the great surfers and the weight, depending on the taste of each one it will seem more or less heavy.

The gaming experience has been very good, especially in games where very fast movements such as the FPS type are not required. The most comfortable terrain is that of exploration MMO games or RPGs, but it does not mean that in a game like Doom of fast and frenetic movements the behavior has also been positive, with the side buttons very useful for selecting weapons or modes.

Regarding the tests carried out to see the performance of the mouse and the sensor, we must say that everything is correct:

  • Variance of movement: The procedure consists of putting the mouse in an enclosure of about 4 cm, then we move the mouse from one side to the other and at different speeds. In this way the line that we are painting in Paint will take a measure, if the lines vary in length, it will mean that it has acceleration, otherwise they will not have it. Our friend Paint has determined that there is no acceleration in this mouse, the lines drawn are practically identical at different speeds, so pass test with license plate. Pixel Skipping: We have also experienced no strange skipping or jerking of the pointer, both at high and low speeds, and with precision help on or off. Tracking: in use in high speed games with fast sweeps and take-off / landing maneuvers. The result is correct, the pointer has not jumped and has continued with the intuited movement. Performance on surfaces: we must emphasize in this regard that the sensor captures movement with the equipment quite off the ground. It has worked well on all kinds of surfaces, shiny as metal, glass and of course wood and mats.

Extremely positive feelings without a doubt.

OZONE Neon X20 firmware and configuration

We continue with a quick review of the brand's software. In this case we do not have a generic software for all products, but we must download a specific one, in this case the one that corresponds to the OZONE Neon X20 mouse. If we remember it is the same system that Mars Gaming has for its devices, it is not bad, but a generic software would be more versatile.

From a single main screen, we can interact with all the options that this mouse offers us.

In the left area we have located the customization options of the mouse buttons, as well as a shortcut for the configuration of Macros and profile selections. We can also configure the mouse with right and left profiles quickly.

In the right menu we have 4 drop-down tabs to modify the 6 DPI profiles, as well as the color of the mouse LED indicator. In the second tab we can customize the animation of the RGB section, the speed and its direction, they have very striking and interesting animations.

In the last two menus we can configure the movement of the mouse and the sensor activating the aid to precision, sensitivity, scrolling speed of the wheel and speed of the double click. Finally we can configure the Polling rate from the last menu.

We have tried to make different squares in Paint to see how the sensitivity and precision aid options work. The first of these is painted with help on and medium sensitivity, the second with high sensitivity, and the third with medium sensitivity and precision help off.

The results are quite similar, the help option is not too significant, so we can deactivate it without problems and the sensitivity is noticeable. We recommend placing the bar in half approximately, depending on the DPI we choose.

Final words and conclusion about OZONE Neon X20

The experience with this OZONE Neon X20 has been very good and even better than expected. With a sober design and smooth lines that support many types of hands and grips, and well placed and poorly accented side and top buttons, they will give us a good experience of use in FPS games and especially in exploration RPG.

The lighting section greatly improves the final appearance of the mouse, it has a Rubber finish that provides a good grip, although the quality of construction and the final finish is somewhat improved by the small detail of the union of casings in the rear area.

The sensations that this Pixart PMW 3325 sensor has left us are really good, without acceleration failures or of any kind if we consider that it is a fairly cheap mouse, so the result is outstanding in this regard.

Take the opportunity to visit our guide to the best mice on the market

This mouse has 9 programmable buttons, if the touch is good and the click is soft and not very audible, but the wheel is somewhat harder than normal with a strong and quite defined scroll. The lighting detail for each selected Profile is interesting and a good guide to know which one we have activated. In general it is a comfortable mouse, although somewhat short, but with good grip in palm type and claw type.

The software is quite complete, and easy to use, although it is not generic for the brand's products. We can make macros, customize buttons, lighting, polling rate, etc. Although the Precision Assist option is not very helpful, turning it on or off almost has a similar result.

We finish by saying that this OZONE Neon X20 will be available in the market for a price of 30 euros, which is undoubtedly very competitive if we consider its performance and versatility, for our part it is a recommended product for tight pockets.
