Last Tuesday, September 30, and from New York, Apple revealed what constitutes the third generation of the iPad Pro. An update that has been delayed for fifteen months but that has brought us completely renovated equipment, both in design and performance and, of course, much more powerful and higher performance. Of course, also more expensive. But beyond the attractiveness of the new iPad Pro, the truth is that they are not intended for all users. Let's say that Apple has focused them on the creativity sector, as the new wallpapers well reflect. Therefore, if you are thinking of getting your first iPad, or renovating the one that you have been with for some years, you are probably interested in reviewing all the models that you can access today.

The iPad family, one by one

From the iPad Mini 4 to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and greater storage capacity, prices range between € 429 and € 2, 099, therefore, the purchase decision is key, and I highly recommend you think carefully about what use you are going to give your iPad

iPad Mini 4

Without hot cloths, this is the last iPad that I would recommend. In my opinion, its only advantage is portability, which allows you to hold it with one hand anywhere, from the sofa at home to the bus stop while you wait. For this reason, it is the most suitable iPad for reading, web browsing, checking email, multimedia consumption and the like.

The iPad Mini 4 is offered in a single 128GB capacity with Wi-Fi only or mobile connectivity as well. It has an already quite outdated processor, but or for that reason insufficient for the aforementioned tasks, Apple's A8 chip with M8 motion coprocessor and a LED-backlit 7.9-inch retina display with a resolution of 2, 048 by 1, 536 to 326 p / p.

9.7 ″ iPad 2018

At the opposite extreme is the 2018 iPad, which we could call “the iPad of the masses”. With an adjusted price that starts at € 349, it is especially focused on students, bloggers, journalists, travelers, etc., and it is compatible with Apple Pencil (the 1st generation).

It has a 9.7-inch retina display LED-backlit with IPS technology and a resolution of 2, 048 by 1, 536 pixels at 264 p / p. Inside, the c hip A10 Fusion with 64-bit architecture and integrated M10 coprocessor.

All the previous models are available in the same finishes as the iPad Mini 4: gold, silver and space gray. You can get the complete information here.

iPad Pro

And now we take the leap to the “pro” grass, which, as its name suggests, is a product that is focused on a professional user, especially in the creative sector, such as illustrators, cartoonists, etc. Its technical specifications are superior, especially in the recent models of 11 and 12.9 inches, but also its price. In addition, it is a tablet that does not make much sense if we do not accompany it with the enPencil and the keyboard, so its price is going to be parallel and even above that of a MacBook. I insist on what I said at the beginning, it is a scholarship to reflect on the use that we are going to give to our iPad, before buying for buying only to have the latest although, if you have the money left over, well go ahead.

10.5-inch iPad Pro

It is the previous model, but its power is incredible, and I say it with knowledge because it is the one that I have. It integrates the fourth-generation A10X Fusion chip with 64-bit architecture and an integrated M10 coprocessor and an LED-backlit 10.5-inch retina display with

Multi-Touch and IPS technology, 2, 224 x 1, 668 resolution with 264 p / p and True Tone technology that automatically adapts the color and intensity based on the light environment in which we find ourselves.

It is compatible with the Pencil and the Smart Keyboard (both first generations) and is available in silver, gold, rose gold and space gray.

New iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inches

They are the new iPad Pro presented on September 30, a real beast and, although they have different screen sizes, the rest of the device is similar. New design almost without frames; In the case of the larger iPad, the change is substantial since it maintains the size of the screen by reducing the overall dimensions of the device, which makes it much more drinkable. It also eliminates the Home button (and the headphone jack) implementing Face ID facial recognition technology that works both vertically and horizontally. They offer an 11 ″ or 12 ″ Liquid Retina display (the same as the iPhone XR) with 2, 388 x 1, 668 (11 ″) and 2, 732 x 2, 048 (12.9 ″) resolution. In both cases the pixel density per inch is 264, and it also integrates True Tone.

Inside we find the A12X Bionic chip with 64-bit Neural Engine architecture with integrated M12 coprocessor. As a notable novelty, the Lightning connector has been replaced by the most versatile USB-C, which opens up a whole range of possibilities in terms of possible connection of peripherals, yes, in the future and whenever Apple decides to allow it.

Both models are available in a storage capacity ranging from 64GB to 1TB, they are compatible with the new Pencil and the new Smart Keyboard Folio.

Here are the prices of the entire current iPad Pro range:
