Philips has officially announced the launch of its latest addition to its E9 series of consumer monitors, the new Philips 278E9 that offers Full HD resolution with a high-quality 27-inch IPS panel.

Philips 278E9, a 27-inch monitor with 1080p resolution and a panel capable of covering 93% of the NTSC spectrum

The new Philips 278E9 monitor is built with a 27-inch panel based on IPS technology, and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This panel is capable of covering a very wide color gamut, resulting in 93% color coverage of the NTSC spectrum. Its maximum brightness is 250 nits, so it does not offer support for advanced HDR technology. Its ultra slim bezel design makes it ideal for use in multi-monitor setups.

The monitor also offers support for AMD's FreeSync technology, although Philips has not specified the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) range. It is expected that the VRR range of the 278E9 is 50-75Hz, which would leave little margin for the operation of this technology, although it is not a monitor focused on gaming. Philips 278E9 supports VGA, DisplayPort and HDMI connectivity, allowing the display to be used by all modern PC and console users. It also has two 3-watt speakers to deliver stereo audio right out of the box.

Finally, the Philips 278E9 is compatible with the VESA 100 × 100 wall mount standard and includes a base that supports tilt options for -5 to 20 degree orientations. Philips 278E9 goes on sale in July for an approximate price of $ 199, quite cheap for its features. What is your opinion of this Philips 278E9?
