The Made by Google event that the search engine giant had scheduled for us today has not been limited to presenting a new generation of smartphones, but has also brought other products and among them, a new tablet called Pixel Slate that, accompanied by a keyboard and running Chrome OS as the operating system, it will try to stand up to Apple iPad Pro.

If something was missing from Google it was to get fully into a segment that many of its adversaries (Samsung, Microsoft, Apple…) already dominate and in which until now it had remained on the sidelines: tablets.

With Pixel Slate Google opens up a new product category with which it tries to merge the best of a tablet and the best of a personal computer into a single hardware. Its tremendous portability, while preserving the main features of a laptop, place it directly in line with the Microsoft Surface and Apple's iPad Pro. A device for working, studying and, of course, for day-to-day tasks and the consumption of multimedia content.

The new Google Pixel Slate tablet is a tablet with a 12.3-inch screen (approximately the same diagonal size as the Pixelbook) that has been focused on both content creation and the consumption of multimedia productions, use of social networks, consultation of email and other common tasks. This screen is called by the company as a "molecular screen" and comes with a resolution of 3000 × 2000

It has a careful finish in navy blue on which stands out a silver power button directly inherited from Pixel phones. This button is located in the upper corner of the device, and it includes a fingerprint sensor, a new function for devices that work on Chrome OS.

At the bottom of the Pixel Slate we find the official keyboard connector with an orange color that also contrasts with the rest of the design.

The Pixel Slate has smaller frames than last year's Pixelbook, with a camera on top and two built-in speakers, one on each side.

On the back, the Google "G" logo along with a camera in the corner.

The Google Pixel Slate comes in five varieties. Among all of them, the main differences lie in the processor, storage and RAM. All models come with an 8th Gen Intel processor, at least 32GB of SSD storage space and a minimum of 4GB of RAM. Otherwise, all models are the same.

Regarding autonomy, Google claims that the device's battery will last up to 10 hours of use. And it lacks a headphone jack, a decision that goes in line with the new Pixel 3.

Along with this tablet, users can purchase the Pixel Slate keyboard as an accessory, a full-size keyboard connects directly to the device and can be folded down to create a base, keeping the device upright. Additionally, the Pixelbook Pen has been released in a new color to match the Google Pixel Slate.
