Plex Launches New Podcast Section
Table of contents:
Recently, Plex has announced the launch of Plex Podcasts, a new feature designed to provide users of the Plex service with a new, intuitive and customizable podcast experience on any iOS or Mac device without requiring any server or subscription.
Plex Podcasts
According to the company, the new Plex Podcasts feature offers cross-platform playback, so you can start listening to a podcast on a device, such as your Apple TV, and later continue where you left off from your iPhone or iPad.
Plex Podcasts interface shows the latest episodes unplayed and in progress, just like Plex does for TV series and movies. Podcasts are displayed alongside videos, music, TV series, movies, etc., unifying all the user's audio and / or video content in one place.
Plex Podcast offers standard playback controls, and also includes an option that allows you to add podcasts not found in the Plex catalog manually by entering the source URL.
As with other types of content, Plex Podcasts is designed to enhance the podcast experience with metadata, providing users with information about each episode and related podcasts.
The new Plex Podcasts feature is now available for iOS, Android, Roku and the Plex web platform, while it has been announced that other devices will be supported in the near future. Plex also plans to add enhanced metadata and smart downloads in the coming weeks.
