Possible future low-end gpus from amd
The last time we talked about the new Radeon R300 series being prepared by AMD, we did so about the future flagship, the R9 390X, and its impressive 4096-bit interface HBM memory. Now it's time to talk about what will be the low range of Pirate Islands.
The new low-end graphics cards from AMD's Pirate Islands series would arrive during the first half of 2015 and would be based on Litho XT and Strato PRO GPUs that get their name from the Earth's lithosphere and stratosphere. The new Litho XT GPU would arrive with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM while the more powerful Strato PRO would arrive with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. This would confirm that HBM memory will only be present in high-end cards.
Surely the Stratro PRO is a shortened version of the Strato XT that would come a little further in the future and would be more powerful.
