At last we have the image of the first Mini-ITX motherboard of the next generation of AMD AM4 sockets, ready to host the new Bristol Ridge (APU) and Summit Ridge (FX) processors that will arrive during the last quarter of this year, APUs possibly earlier.

The image of the AM4 motherboard that has been seen is the ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Impact. This motherboard comes to replace the ASUS ROG Crosshair V that was launched in 2011 for Bulldozer processors, with a design that does not seem to differ too much from the current AM3 + motherboards that we can find on the market. The good news about the new AM4 socket is that the FX and APU processors can be used in it, AMD has decided to unify its two processor models and dispense with the FM2 + sockets that are required for current APUs.

Getting fully into the ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Impact, by sharing features very similar to the AM3 + socket, it is speculated that this motherboard can be used with Bulldozer processors.

In other data you can also see the presence of two DDR4 slots with up to 32GB of capacity and speeds of 4133 MHz maximum (O.C +). Four SATA III 6 Gb / s USB ports and two internal USB3.0 connectors. Onboard audio will be provided by The SupremeFX Impact III.

AMD will be betting heavily with its new architecture of Zen processors that will arrive later this year along with the new AM4 sockets, it will remain to be seen if they will really compete against Intel's proposals or if they will again bet on lower performance products but more economic.
