At the end of the year the new AMD Carrizo A-8000 APU will arrive for ultra-thin Notebook devices, remember that the new APUs will consist of x86 cores with Excavator microarchitecture accompanied by Radeon Pirate Islands graphics so a great improvement is expected over Kaveri.

From SiSoftware come the first results of the SiSoft Sandra benchmark made to an engineering sample of the AMD A-8000 Series "Carrizo-L" SoC that has a Turbo operating frequency of 2.6GHz and an unknown base frequency. This chip is for 2 Excavator modules adding 4 cores and an AMD Radeon R7 GPU with 512 Shader Processors based in Pirate Islands.

The chip offers a score of 24.7 Giga-operations per second (GOPS) in arithmetic calculations, being a result very similar to that offered by the Kaveri AMD A10-7300 APU (24.6 GOPS), which has an operating frequency of 3.2 Ghz.

Some results that we must take with tweezers since we do not know more detail of the Carrizo chip used such as its base frequency, still shows that Carrizo gets better performance than Kaveri with a lower operating frequency, so AMD has achieved a better IPC with Excavator.
