Compatible fans

12cm and 14cm.

This heatsink is divided into 2 bodies, a priori seems intended to cool the processor and RAM. But what the Prolimatech engineers have really thought about is dividing the heat sources in order to dissipate the processor more effectively, which does not mean that the RAM benefits from it and is better cooled. In a world where innovations only occur in making heatsinks bigger and bigger, it seems like Prolimatech gets a bit out of place with this daring design.

Top of heatsink case before opening:

Laterals. They detail the dimensions, materials used, weight and compatible fans:

We open the box and find: The accessory box and the heatsink protected with a plastic:

Accessories box:

Inside it contains: manual, Amd Kit, Intel Kit, hardware, washers, sticker and thermal paste:

Fix for socket 775, plastic washers and sticker:

Thermal paste syringe provided by Prolimatech. Due to its composition it is PK-1:

Prolimatech provides us with 4 clips to hold two fans. The sale of these clips has not yet reached stores, for a third fan:

The installation of the heatsink following the instructions in the manual is quite simple:

We have to pay special attention to our anchorage if it is an Intel socket. We must choose between three positions. The first is for socket 1366, the second for 1556/1555 and the third for socket 775. In it we have to insert the rivets, so that they do not come off, they are caught with a rubber band (we will only use four of the six).

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

Step 5

Step 6

This is the end result of our Gentle Typhoon 1850 rpm heatsink installation.

The Prolimatech Genesis allows us to install memories of any profile as we can see in the following image:

We have 1.3 cm of margin between the end of the heatsink of the G.Skills Ripjaws X to the heatsink.

With these 1.3 cm it allows us to install / remove the low / medium profile memories without problems. In high profiles it would be impossible. Although we recommend that the memories are always installed before the heatsink. We also detected a problem with the hooks with the Nidec Gentle Typhoon 1850. Only two of the 4 hooks hook correctly, the other two hooks only take the fan on one side. In this photo we can see it:

And lastly we added a problem with the pci-e 1x / 4x ports. The heatsink may collide with the first 1x / 4x pcie port on certain motherboards due to its width. For example, a sound card. You have to be very careful, because it could cause a short circuit.

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the CPU with full memory floating point calculation (Linx) and prime number (Prime95) programs. Both programs are well known in the overclocking sector and serve to detect failures when the processor works 100% for long hours. How are we going to measure the processor temperature? We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 20 / 21º ambient temperature.

In our test bench we will use three different models of fans: 2 x Nidec Gentle Typhoon 1850 rpm2 x Noctua NF-P12.2 x Prolimatech Vortex Red 14 cm.

WE RECOMMEND YOU Noctua shows new completely black Chromax fans and heatsinks

We have been very surprised with this heatsink. It is positioned as the most efficient heatsink on the market, outpacing its rivals by far: Noctua DH-14, Silver Arrow and Archon. Thank Prosilentpc again for the transfer of the product. To finish our summary of advantages and disadvantages:

ADVANTAGE

DISADVANTAGES

+ It is positioned as the best air sink.

- Too wide, and collides with pcie-1x / 4x ports.

+ Innovative and effective design.

- Could bring a third pair of clips, for a third fan.

+ Compatibility with high profile memories.

- With high profile memories, the heatsink must be removed to be able to manipulate them.

+ Compatibility with 12 and 14 cm fans.

- Does not include fans.

+ Simple assembly.

For this reason we award him our gold medal:
