Review: prolimatech armageddon

Anonim

Prolimatech is world renowned for its high performance heatsinks. To check the performance of the Prolimatech Armaggedon, we have conducted our tests with the recent Sandy Bridge-E LGA 2011 platform.

The Prolimatech Armageddon does not include fans. But it uses a special retention system. Therefore, we must be careful when choosing fans. The only requirements that we must meet is that its frame is not less than 1.5mm. That is, the Scythe Kaze Maru fan is not supported.

The heatsink is packed in a small box. In it we can see the logo in the form of a robot and the letters "Armageddon" somewhat scorched.

To open the box, we must push up and it will be divided into two parts.

In it we will find:

  • Prolimatech Armageddon heatsink. Instruction Manual in 4 languages. Accessories pack: anchors for intel socket and fans, thermal paste, etc…

The Armageddon logo is engraved on the top. It is fully chrome and twelve points stand out from its heatpipes.

The heatsink has 12 heatpipes, with a very particular distribution.

It is 16.3 cm high and 14.4 cm wide.

The base has a great aesthetic, but does not have the famous mirror effect.

For its installation we will need the supports and the base for the LGA 775, 1555/1556 and 1366 Sockets.

The included thermal paste offers great benefits for our heatsink.

For installation on platform 2011 we will need some screws. These can be purchased for less than a euro on the official website.

Our tests will be with socket 2011. The first thing we have done is to screw the screws into the socket.

Below we have looked at the placement of the heatsink. In vertical our memories were going to collide (Corsair Vengeance), so we decided to use horizontal.

All right! We will not have a problem with the first PCI-Express. Let's continue its installation.

We apply the thermal paste and insert all the screws. (In the photo the base screws are missing). And in the absence of fans, its installation would be completed. Weather? 10 minutes ?

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the CPU with prime numbers (Prime95 custom) and two Phobya G-Silent 14 fans. It is a well-known software in the overclocking sector and allows us to detect failures when the processor is working 100%. for long hours. Why won't we use Linx? Socket 2011 is not currently optimized, and I would make the effort.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For this test on Intel processors we will use the “Core Temp” application in its version: 0.99.8. It is not the most reliable test, but it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The test bench will be around 22ºC ambient temperature.

Let's see the results obtained:

The Prolimatech Armageddon has shown us that it is one of the best air coolers on the market. For its aesthetics, design and performance.

We have equipped it with two Phobya G-Silent 14 to 12v fans along with an Intel i7 3930k at 4600mhz and 1.36v. Its performance has been fantastic: 28ºC in idle and 73ºC in full. Professional Review I recommend not to exceed the 1.40v and 80ºC barrier. And of course that with the Prolimatech Armageddon we have life insurance on the I7?

We would have liked you to include the screws for the LGA 2011. Although they can be purchased from its "Where to buy" section: http://www.prolimatech.com/en/where/index.asp?itemid=22#bottom for less from € 1. If you want to get it in Spain you can ask www.prosilentpc.com.

In short, the Prolimatech Armageddon is an excellent trigger. It can be purchased for € 45, that is, an excellent price for one of the best heatsinks.
