Test stability of amd and nvidia drivers with 12 cards

The stability of AMD and Nvidia drivers is always a matter of debate for fans of both brands, independent tests have shown that AMD has the most stable drivers compared directly with its great rival. AMD has always been reputed to have poorer quality drivers, but the company has worked hard in recent years to get rid of the bad reputation of its graphics card software.

The stability of AMD drivers is superior to Nvidia

In the rigorous tests, a total of 12 graphics cards, AMD RX Vega 64, RX 580 and RX 560 and Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, GTX 1060 and GTX 1050, which underwent 288 hours of non-stop stress testing. AMD Radeon cards achieved a 93% approval rate, while Nvidia GeForce managed to reap a score of 82%.

These tests were carried out by an independent company, QA Consultants, although they were funded and commissioned at the request of AMD. Structured testing offers a great read for the Red Team, which has long struggled against all derogatory comments from a large part of the community.

QA Consultants used Windows Hardware Lab Kit, a framework designed to help test products in a Windows environment, along with a GPU testing tool called CRASH. CRASH runs a four-to-four stress test, covering sleep mode cycles, changes in orientation and resolution, as well as standard rendering tasks. They ran it consecutively, 24 hours a day, for 12 days on each GPU.

When AMD released the Crimson ReLive drivers, Terry Makedon explained that stability is the unwritten rule. A decade ago they had problems with stability and game glitches, something that led them to lose many customers. That is why AMD has focused on stability as the first job to be done with the new drivers.
