Well-known NAS manufacturer QNAP Systems has launched a new model for home users, ready for multimedia needs up to 4K resolutions.
QNAP TS-251B with dual-core processor and expansion capabilities
The new NAS is powered by an Intel J3355 dual-core processor, at 2.0GHz and up to 2.5 turbo, and its capabilities include 4K transcoding and streaming between different devices.
In addition, it is the first QNAP NAS with a PCIe slot to expand its functionalities. For example, QNAP QM2 cards can be added to add cache by an M.2 SSD and 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, or other functionalities such as compatible WiFi modules, USB 3.1 Gen2 cards, etc.
The TS-251B is QNAP's first home NAS with a PCIe slot, allowing users to add extra functionality to meet their needs. They can add SSD caching and 10GbE connectivity to improve system performance while securing their future for 10GbE network environments. The ports and connections included will be two DDR3L SO-DIMM memory slots, upgradeable up to 8GB, currently interchangeable slot for SATA 2.5 / 3.5 ″ drives (SSDs and HDDs), 1 PCIe Gen2 x2 slot, 1 Gigabit LAN port, 1 HDMI 1.4 b up to 4K UHD, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB copy button, 1 speaker, 2 3.5mm jacks that support dynamic microphones and 1 3.5mm jack that supports audio output.
