QNAP leaves us with a major launch today. The company has already announced the new QGD-1600P managed PoE switch. It is the world's first smart peripheral switch. This QGD-1600P offers compute, data storage and network management capabilities thanks to QTS support and virtualization. Compatible with the latest IEEE 802.3bt PoE ++ standard, the QGD-1600P supplies up to 60 watts per port and offers multiple Layer 2 management functions. Thanks to the integrated functions of the NAS and the switch, the QGD-1600P also supports various applications of virtualization and QTS to offer IP surveillance, network security, storage expansion and wireless LAN management capabilities.

QNAP Introduces the QGD-1600P: A Smart PoE Peripheral Switch with QTS and Virtualization

The IT landscape is constantly changing and this mode is designed to help companies and organizations accelerate their digital transformation to adapt to a wide variety of possible applications.

New peripheral switch

The QGD-1600P is equipped with 4 x 60-watt PoE Gigabit ports and 12 x 30-watt PoE Gigabit ports (with two combined PoE / SFP ports) to supply up to 370 watts to multiple high-power devices (PDs). With a quad-core Intel® Celeron® J4115 processor, switch CPU, and two SATA drive bays, the QGD-1600P responds to both network transmission and storage needs. With dedicated processors for NAS and switch functions, the QGD-1600P works with QSS (QNAP Switch System) and QTS network management interfaces independently. The ease of use of QTS and QuNetSwitch also greatly helps small and medium-sized businesses implement a flexible and secure IT infrastructure.

With smart PoE management features, IT staff control high-powered devices to promote an energy-saving PoE network. PCIe expandability also offers the ability to extend the functionality of the QGD-1600P with 10GbE network cards, QM2 dual-port M.2 / 10GbE SSD cards, USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) cards, or wireless adapters.
