Qualcomm: batteries limit the development of mobile devices

In recent years, mobile devices have become very popular among users, who are increasingly demanding devices with a greater number of features and the power necessary to enable them to run increasingly complex applications.

But not everything is power, current mobile devices also incorporate higher resolution and larger screens, HD cameras, as well as modern modems ready to support the latest specifications of cellular networks; all in a small size, which includes the space occupied by the battery.

Although some manufacturers of portable devices think that mobile devices will not be able to continue to evolve unless there is a radical change in the technologies used in the development of batteries, Qualcomm thinks that by optimizing the devices for wireless networks, it is possible to reduce the consumption between 25 and 30% in sleep mode.

Although the company has not specifically revealed what type of optimizations it will perform to its SoCs to achieve this, it merely mentions that users are probably not interested in the peculiarities of that optimization process, but rather the result: devices that keep them in touch and they use less electricity.
