Radeon rx 5500: the next amd graphics with gddr6 memories
Table of contents:
Continuing the leaks from a couple of weeks ago, the new AMD mid-range graphics have already been confirmed. The Radeon RX 5500 are remarkably powerful and quite efficient graphics with good GDDR6 memory. Despite its more modest specs, the new contender is able to beat some of its direct competitors.
New mid-range graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5500
As we noted in previous news, the new graphics for the AMD Radeon RX 5500 line have been announced today at an AMD conference. This line of graphics will encompass the three versions RX 5500M (for laptops), RX 5500 (base model) and RX 5500 XT (the most powerful model) .
In that presentation, the new base graphics was compared to the AMD RX 480 and the Nvidia GTX 1650 , two of the most even contenders.
In principle, this piece was designed to beat these two graphs and it should be noted that in the footnotes they mention that the model used is the 4GB one , so there probably is another one with 8GB .
If this is true, we will see for the first time in a mid-range graphics 8GB of GDRR6 memory with a 128-bit bus . The bandwidth would be expanded theoretically to 224 GB / s thirty times less than its previous generation, the RX 580 .
The Radeon RX 5500 aims that it will come with Navi 14 and will have a surface of 158 mm 2 . Thanks to the 7nm construction , the brand ensures efficiency up to x1.6 higher than the Polaris graphics family. On the other hand, the RX 5500 will have 1408 Stream Processors in all its variants, with quite high frequencies (above its RX 5700 variants).
Even mobile graphics promise quite a bit of performance and we can see this thanks to the different comparative benchmarks:
And to you, what do you think of the new mid-range Navi graphics ? Would you prefer a laptop with an RX 5500M or a GTX 1650 ? Share your ideas in the comment box.
