After Raja Koduri's departure from AMD, many assumed that the engineer's next destination was Intel, something that has finally been confirmed to lead the semiconductor giant's Core and Visual Computing Group (CVCG).

Intel is the new destiny of Raja Koduri

Intel has confirmed the signing of Raja Koduri as the company's chief architect and senior vice president of the newly formed Core and Visual Computing Group, thereby taking full responsibility for a new initiative to drive IT solutions. Koduri is on a mission to expand Intel's leading position in integrated graphics for the PC market with high-end discrete graphics solutions for a wide range of computing segments.

Billions of users today enjoy computing experiences powered by Intel's leading cores and visual computing IP. Moving forward under the leadership of Koduri, Intel will unify and expand visual computing IP through computing, graphics, media, imaging and artificial intelligence capabilities for the customer and data center segments.

Raja Koduri has more than 25 years of experience in visual and accelerated computing advances on a wide range of platforms, including PCs, video game consoles, professional workstations and consumer devices, making it the cornerstone of Intel to continue with developing its solutions based on GPU technology.

Recall that Raja Koduri comes to Intel after several years as senior vice president and chief architect for the Radeon Technologies Group. Raja has been responsible for overseeing the development of all products based on the Sunnyvale company GCN graphics architecture.

This move comes after Intel and AMD have confirmed their collaboration to create new processors based on Intel's Coffee Lake architecture and AMD's Vega / Polaris graphics.
