In a Twitter post Friday, Intel (Ex-AMD) chief architect Raja Koduri apparently hinted at an announcement or launch of Intel Xe GPUs in June 2020.

Raja Koduri suggests launch of Intel Xe GPUs in June of next year

We know that Intel has plans to fully enter the graphics card market since they incorporated Raja Koduri into their team, former head of AMD's Radeon division. In 2018, the company pledged to meet a 2020 launch schedule for the first of those Xe graphics cards, which will eventually span the entry level of mobile devices to data centers, including 'gaming' GPUs., with a manufacturing process of 7 nm.

The Xe architecture will also bring the Gen12 graphics architecture to life, which will come in two microarchitecture variants, one optimized for consumers and one optimized for the data center.

Until now, Intel has not been willing to provide any kind of indicative date for the launch of its new architecture, until now, where Raja Koduri has left a suggestive tweet with an image of a Tesla Model S and three very clear references; 'JUN', 'Model X' and '2020'. I think it doesn't take a genius to understand what he wants to tell us.

June doesn't seem like a coincidence. Intel may have an announcement, and perhaps even a version, planned for Computex to be held in June 2020.

Meanwhile, another Twitter post on Thursday, from an unverified source, suggested that Lakefield-R will be another Xe- based product (based on some source code). It looks like next year it will welcome a new competitor to AMD and Nvidia in the video game graphics card industry. We will see if they can really measure up. We will keep you informed.
