At the end of the article we will recommend our favorite Zowie mouse. However, before we get into eleven-rod suits, let's get a little closer to the company that creates the devices.

Who are Zowie ?

In 2015, the company was acquired by BenQ , although that did not excessively change its commitment to users. This is why today Zowie continues to be one of the most relevant names in the world of professional gaming.

As a curiosity, the BenQ brand takes its name from the word game Bringing Enjoyment N Quality.

Currently, within its catalog, its most characteristic product is the Zowie mouse, since its designs are simple, not too expensive and very precise. While other brands have diverse shapes and characteristics, Zowie focuses on keeping them simple. If you know any of their models, you will see that they lack RGB , they are very light and have the fewest buttons possible. This has made him a cult brand especially for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players.

The brand also produces monitors, mats and gaming accessories, among other things, although they are not as refined or as well known. However, let's continue to see what devices the company has.

Zowie Mouse

As we have already anticipated, the most characteristic product of the brand is the Zowie mouse, a work of simple engineering in design, well calibrated and with a good price. But what models exist and how do they differ from each other?

Zowie EC-A

In the Zowie mouse product catalog we differentiate 4 main product lines: EC Series, FK Series, S Series and ZA Series.

An interesting feature of Zowie and its naming is that they follow a very simple scheme. The smaller the letter or number (A, B, C or 10, 11, 12…) the larger the overall mouse size. Following this rule, the ZA11, for example, is designed for large hands, while the ZA13 is designed for small hands.

Also, another very remarkable feature of Zowie mice is their weight. Despite having large mice among their rows, the weight they usually have is usually less than 80-95g, which is almost a luxury.

On the other hand, if you visit the website you will instantly realize that it is intended to be understandable to the user. It does not use bombastic words or attractive numbers, but it tells you about the profile of the mouse, its size or the type of grip recommended. Honestly, it seems like a very good practice that other brands should adopt.

Next, we will analyze each of the series and their models so that you know them more closely.

EC series

The EC series is the most popular mouse among professional Counter-Strike players registered with prosettings. On this website they have registered 335 players, of which some overwhelming 132 use some model of the EC series .

This Zowie mouse model is designed with a right-handed design in mind, so left-handed users won't be able to use it comfortably. In addition, it is noted for its shape and its right side that is designed to satisfy users with palm-grip . Likewise, it will also be quite usable for claw-grips , but it is not so recommended.

It has two versions: the EC-A and EC-B series . However, the most relevant and almost unique difference is the sensor they mount. In the EC-A we have the PMW3310 , while in the EC-B we will have the PMW3360 .

Both mice have low DPI levels (400/800/1600/3200) that we can vary with a button on the base. Also, like normal mice, we will have buttons to go back and forth web pages, so we will have 5 programmable keys.

On the other hand, for players who need to move the mouse enough we will have a good lifting distance (approx. 1.5mm) .

Finally, we will have two possibilities regarding the shape: size 1 (large) and size 2 (medium). Both share a body, but one weighs 96g , while the other 90g , not bad.

We have to emphasize that from the EC-A series we have some models in white and from the EC-B series we have two special editions: Counter-Strike and DIVINA (blue or pink) . These models cost almost the same as the originals and only have visual changes, so it is purely a personal decision.

FK series

The FK series is also quite popular, but nowhere near as its brother, the EC series . In the list of professional players mentioned previously, approximately 10% of the players use a Zowie FK Series mouse .

This line of mice is designed in an ambidextrous way so that any user can use it. For this reason, it features a pair of programmable control buttons on either side of the device. This leaves us with 7 keys along the body of the mouse.

Due to its shape, the most recommended grip is claw-grip , although good use with fingertip-grip is not ruled out.

Like the previous model and almost all on the list, they mount the PMW3360 sensor. With this sensor we can enjoy great control over many surfaces and we will have an acceptable lifting distance (approx. 1.5mm).

We will have a DPI control at the base of the mouse with which we will vary between its different levels (400/800/1600 and 3200) .

Finally, we have to talk about the three sizes in which we can acquire the device.

  • Firstly, the FK2 is for medium hands and weighs 85g. The FK1 model is made for large hands and weighs 90g. Lastly, the FK1 + is intended for even larger hands and achieves a weight of 95g.

All the previously mentioned models can be purchased in black or white.

ZA series

This type of Zowie mouse is quite similar to the FK series , since both have ambidextrous designs. The nuclear difference is that this model has a very marked shape to be pleasant for the palm-grip . Whether you are left-handed or right-handed, you can use this mouse with your palm completely on the device, so that's a mini-point.

However, being symmetrical, you may not find a grip that is completely comfortable for you. In the EC-B series , in counterpart, we have a highly ergonomic design that benefits palm grip, which is why it is so popular. In other words, being ambidextrous, it neither satisfies left-handers nor right-handers.

In the same way as with the FK series , we will have two buttons on each side to allow ambidextrous use. With this, the programmable button counter stands at 7, too.

And, of course, the sensor that we will have will be the PMW3360 with the same configuration of DPI levels and a button on the base. Zowie doesn't vary too much in her designs, since users like it the way they are.

Finally, we will talk about the three sizes available:

  • For starters, the ZA11 is intended for large hands and weighs about 90g. Next, ZA12 is for medium hands and weighs about 85g. Finally, the ZA13 is intended for small hands and weighs only 80g.

In addition, we can get any of these models in both black and white.

S series

The S series is the newest of all the series.

This series is intended for people with smaller hand sizes, especially female players. Until then, the only alternative users had for the Zowie mouse was the ZA13 , but it could still be a little big for some.

It has a symmetrical design, but it only has buttons on the left side of the mouse, so we will have 5 programmable keys.

With this shape it allows a natural grip in claw-grip that can be extended to fingertip-grip. Regarding palm-grip, it is possibly a bit uncomfortable since the hand can be protruding due to its short dimensions.

The sensor is none other than the PMW3360 with the same configuration and possibilities as the other mice. However, the DPI button will have an LED indicator to specify which level it is at. Also, we will have a second button with 3 LEDs to change the refresh rate of the mouse (125/500/1000) .

A feature that the brand mentions, but that is quite insignificant is the arrangement of the cable. This is at a slightly elevated angle to prevent the mouse from rubbing too hard on the mat, a nice touch.

We will have two sizes to buy this mouse: the Zowie S1 (medium) and the Zowie S2 (small). Both models weigh approximately 87g and 82g , respectively.

Finally, comment that we can get it in three colors: black, blue or pink. These last three colors belong to the Zowie DIVINA design line , although they do not signify any change. All three models are for sale for similar prices, so they are purely aesthetic decisions.

The Zowie Mouse We Recommend

If we had to make a recommendation about Zowie mice, the decision would be difficult. However, depending on what type of hand and grip you had, the best we can recommend are the EC and S Series.

On the one hand, the majority of users use the palm-grip , so it is common for a mouse for this paradigm to be popular. The Zowie EC-B and EC-A mice have become famous for their great ergonomics and for being very good at their jobs.

We can get it in its version for large hands or in its version for medium hands, but that already depends on you. Thanks to its shape, it is very comfortable for most users and being cs: go one of the first e-Sports, it is common that it is famous among those players.

However, there is another vein of users who often suffer the curse of not having compatible mice. We speak clearly of the users with medium or small hands, as usually happens with the players. This is where the Zowie S Series appears to save the situation.

It is a mouse designed to satisfy the public that is not worth the EC Series . On the one hand, it has other smaller dimensions, so it is already focusing on another audience. On the other hand, being symmetrical, it is intended for different grips than the palm-grip , that is, claw-grip and fingertip-grip .

As for functionalities and software, both present the same or almost the same, so there is not much to comment. The problem we do have is that this latest series, being more recent, has higher prices. While other mice can be found for € 40 or € 60 , the Zowie S1 and S2 almost can only be found for € 75 , their base price.

Final words on the Zowie mouse

We miss the company to jump into the pool and release some wireless model and, perhaps, to bring out its own technology. Other companies like Logitech, SteelSeries or Razer have already done so, so we hope that they will do so sooner or later.

On the other hand, we would also like to see what else they are capable of. We have just half a dozen products among accessories, mats and monitors, but how far are they able to go? We would like to see how committed they are to the world of e-Sport to offer a complete Zowie gaming experience, although for now it seems impossible.

And what do you think of the maca Zowie ? Do you think it makes quality products or are they more common? Share your ideas below in the comment box.
