Razer is the leader in manufacturing high-end gaming peripherals. This time, we have one of their best keyboards in hand, it is the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma that maintains the same mechanical switches and the same fully customizable lighting system of the original BlackWidow Chroma.

As with all Razer products, premium packaging is used. On the cover we find a black background and brushstrokes of its corporate color: green. Although the look goes to the image of the keyboard and a small window that allows us to test the buttons.

The Razer Black Widow X Chroma presents normal measurements as it is a standard 460 x 182 x 40 mm keyboard and weighs 1.4 kilograms which is quite high to be in front of a plastic chassis. Razer is characterized by offering an attractive and quality design and in this version it is very present. Its entire structure is made of plastic and with a minimalist touch.

Although the version you see has an English distribution, the keyboard layout in Spanish with WSAD and “Ñ” is already in stores . The keyboard is distributed in an alpha-numeric area, full numeric keyboard, function keys in the upper area and on the left side. If we look at the sides we did not find any particular feature when presenting a fairly conventional design.

In the upper area , we have the function keys that have multimedia characteristics and allow us to regulate the intensity of the led light and change its effects. A first difference from the original BlackWidow is that this time we do not have the five additional keys for macros. On the other hand, the F5, F6 and F7 keys come with multimedia settings, while the F9 and F10 keys allow you to record macros in flight and F11 and F12 will serve to modify the intensity of the lighting.

This version of the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma is designed for durability and switches made by Razer. These switches are manufactured by Razer with the aim of improving the characteristics and benefits of the Cherry MX that are usually the most used. These Razer Green switches have been based on the Cherry MX Blue and Red and have been modified and improved to be able to offer a longevity of up to 60 million keystrokes, making the experience much more enjoyable. Each key supports an activation force of up to 50 grams and a 1000 Hz ultrapolling. It also incorporates 10 n-Key Rollover (NKRO) technology and 10 keys reinforced with Anti-Ghosting protection that transmit an ideal experience to the end user.

In the rear area of the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma we have two tabs that offer two positions and several non-slip strips. Our tests on wood, iron, marble and glass have been very satisfactory. Finally, highlight the 2.1 meter braided and shielded fiber cable that offers great resistance so that it lasts a long time as new. The keyboard uses a gold plated USB connection to further enhance your transfer and prevent them from deteriorating over time, Razer puts a lot of care into its products.

Chroma lighting

It also incorporates Chroma technology that allows us to customize the keyboard with 16.8 million colors and the following available effects:

Razer Synapse Software

To install the customization application for the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma, we must go to the official Razer website and download the Razer Synapse application. Its installation is just as simple as the rest of the applications in windows (all "following").

Once the application is open, it will ask us to update the product firmware, which we always recommend, even if it takes a few minutes (the process is all automatic). The only important thing is not to disconnect it during the process. If you do it later, you can do it from the application itself.

We will see a first screen that will allow us to configure different personalization profiles, light intensity and "gaming" use. We really liked all its interface and manageability. Experience and conclusion

Many of us are users who spend much of the day in front of a computer, whether for work, leisure or study. The most important peripherals, mouse and keyboard, are often the most neglected by regular computer users, many times spending a lot of money on a tower and skimping on something to be used every time you interact in any way with the team.

Although the price of the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma is quite high, it is true that it is an excellent mechanical keyboard available with Spanish distribution. It has custom keys, functions and all the necessary features for professional and not so professional players: NKRO, 1000 ultra-polling and quality and longevity switches.

To test its performance we have used the usual working environment (office automation, graphic design and video and programming), the performance there is very nice. It is true that these switches are a mixture of the MX-Blue and MX-Red and that you need a few hours to get used to them. While the gaming experience gives us a plus and we feel quite comfortable.

Currently, there is a lot of competition between mechanical keyboards to play . But without a doubt the Razer Blackwidow X Chroma is one of the best on the market although its price may be a handicap for the final consumer.
