Unboxing and design

The Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard is offered in a cardboard box with the usual design of the brand, once we open it we find the keyboard, accommodated by a piece of cardboard and covered by a plastic bag, to protect in the best way its delicate surface possible. Next to the keyboard we find the user guide, and two stickers with the Razer logo.

Finally we see the Razer Cynosa Chroma in the foreground, as we can see, this keyboard follows a design very similar to that of the manufacturer's mechanical models. It is a full-format keyboard, that is, it includes the number block on the right, due to this it will be highly recommended for users who make intensive use of this part. It is manufactured with a very good quality black plastic body, reaching dimensions of 463 x 154 x 31 mm with a weight of 950 grams, high enough to be a membrane model, something that shows the high quality of the components used.

A first difference with its mechanical older brothers, is that this keyboard mounts some keys with a lower height, something that reminds us of the Ornata. As it is a membrane keyboard we get harder keystrokes, although in return it is much quieter, so it will be ideal for typing at night or in environments with many users working. The keyboard has a slight wedge shape to help achieve greater ergonomics of use.

Razer has included various functions on the F keys, to use them we only have to press one of these while maintaining Fn. F1-F3 and F5-F7 include multimedia functions, F9 enables macro recording, F10 activates gaming mode and F11-F12 manages lighting intensity.

At the bottom we find 4 rubber feet to prevent it from slipping on the table and the two traditional lifting legs. Finally, we point out its rubberized USB cable.

Razer Synapse 3.0 Software

The Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard is fully compatible with the Razer Synapse 3.0 application, the latest version of the company's software, which has a renewed design and is much more intuitive to use. We can use the keyboard without the application, although it is recommended to install it to get the most out of it.

First of all we find the Customize section that allows us to configure the function of each of the keys, in this way we can assign the macros that we have created and various functions. We go to the lighting section, being a Chroma product this is one of the most important parts of the application, it offers us the possibility to choose between 16.8 million colors, multiple light effects and of course the custom mode for each of the keys.

Razer Cynosa Chroma is surely the best membrane keyboard we can find on the market, at a time when mechanical keyboards are the absolute king among demanding users, it is difficult to recommend a membrane model. This keyboard is intended for users who cannot bear the noise of mechanical switches, those who work at night and those who work in an environment where there are other people who need concentration. The keystroke is considerably harder than on a mechanical keyboard, so once you have got used to the switches it is more difficult to go back, and it will be easier for any keystroke not to reach the activation point.

The construction quality of the keyboard is very high, as well as in the rest of the products of the Californian brand, although logically the durability of a membrane will never be equal to that of the best mechanical switches. Finally, the ergonomics is quite good, although it would not hurt if the legs allowed to lift it a little more.
